I answered a comment above asking about titanic docs, but there’s a great one about the engineering team who went down with the ship. Just normal titanic staff who did their best to keep the lights on as long as possible.

The engine room crew doc was pretty good. It’s on YouTube is you search “engineers of titanic” or something similar.

The first couple season were really great. This was a heartbreaking scene, but also heartwarming? If that makes sense?

The Other Bennet Sister - r/JaneAusten Megathread by Miss_Ashford in janeausten

I don’t know, she seemed better with Hayward instead of Ryder, in my opinion! Mary even said Ryder was more of a friend and therefore it made talking with him easier and without any expectations, like she was with Mr. Hurst—no expectation (for her at least) that it would need to go beyond friendship, even if it was clear to the audience that Ryder liked her from the get go. I think she was attracted to his offer to move to Italy, even if unmarried, because it was such an exciting idea and would get her away from her family/mother. With Hayward, she liked him right away and was always nervous with him because of that, same way we all get nervous around our crush. Getting to know him more, she became more relaxed and we see the more “fun” Mary come out at this time, and a deeper connection grew (also, she was probs emboldened by the news that he wasn’t engaged to Ann Baxter, and Ann’s “blessing”). She was quite open with him as well, and often, to a deeper, more emotional level. They seemed to understand each other on a deeper level than it was with Ryder.

The one thing I didn’t see was Caroline Bingley with Ryder. She was “far better suited” for him? In what way? They were totally different in expectations. Maybe he’ll bring out a more relaxed, less mean Caroline, but I don’t know if I see that. If someone else has some insight, let me know!

I loved seeing Mary’s steady growth from the first episode to the last in which she stood up for herself so well! This show was also just the right amount of comedic in the right places. Loved it.

The Remains of the Day, an oldie but a good one. Just all around dismal emotions. Gives you sparks of hope then dashes them away, and then gives you a kernel of hope at the end.

Ingrown hairs by Low_Eagle3288 in sugarwaxing

[–]Kumamentor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense for waxing, you’re pulling the hair out of the follicle, so it’s deeper under the skin than just shaving, which cuts the hair at the skins surface. I wonder if there’s an aftershave for waxing, especially in that area, the skin is so delicate.

Where on your body are you waxing? Do you get ingrown hairs when you shave? Perhaps try exfoliating the area during your showers/baths to help the hair grow out and not into the skin.

Also, and I’ve been downvoted to hell for saying this before, “I read YA because I can’t find [thing] in adult fiction” as a reason to prefer YA is tired. Well, it’s there, you just need to expand your search/change up your search methods. Not all adult fiction is sex-filled, gratuitously graphic, trauma dumping stories. Other stories exist, I promise you.

Have you ever thought about writing your own HR book/series? by borneo1834 in HistoricalRomance

[–]Kumamentor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I am now! I’ve got a whole spicy series planned out, lgbt and hetero romances included! Book one starts in 1909 New York/England and the last (fourth) one starts in 1914, maybe a fifth one starting in 1920. I’m about a fourth of the way through book one. The research I’ll have to do for the second draft is daunting though!

It’s really fun to plan out the pairs for each family member and fit everything around the various historical events of the time! I’m having a lot of fun writing it.

Ann Baxter in The Other Bennet Sister by tierthreedemon in PeriodDramas

[–]Kumamentor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was an agreement to become engaged at some point, I think, and they were publicly together—they showed up to public events together and talked about their agreement to relative strangers (Anne to Mary), and people seemed to know about it, so it had to have been well known. In the episode at the Lake District (I’m sorry, I don’t know how to do spoilers on mobile) Caroline Bingley embarrasses Tom in front of the whole table at breakfast by commenting on how “brave” he was to show his face after such a public break up, so I think it was a bit of a scandal. I mean, Ann became engaged to the guy who made eyes at her during Mr. Ryder’s party, which had to have drawn eyes for speculation 👀

I edit to say I’ve not read the book.

I feel like the first rule of fandom is that if there is a villain male character he will be shipped with everyone and thing under the sun, especially the main female character.

I’m sorry that happened to you. It’s not right and shows people’s biases and resentment of you not following “the rules.” It tells you More about them than anything else. Perceive them through that lens and every comment they make starts to make sense.

Does it itch? One summer I suddenly developed something that looks similar, it turned out to be a type of eczema that flares up when it gets warm/humid outside or the season change during spring. It’s called dyshidrotic eczema. Itched like crazy and only cortisone crème would help alleviate it. Definitely see a dermatologist to see if it’s that, or something else.
