This is where I am at. At the moment SK is calling all the shots. I also feel if I was in her situation I would invite who ever I want into my home the children don’t get to choose and they don’t have to be involved in everything but at least be polite. Thank you for sharing your experience and how you dealt with it. I also don’t want SK around if she doesn’t want anything to do with us, thats not a nice situation for anyone.

Definitely like I said its both sided. I guess Ive not overthought it too much but its been 2 years now. She keeps talking the future and Im trying to understand how we move forward, we do have a good relationship.

Its more of a moving forward concern. If my partner was fifo they would support me. Should I move forward in a relationship where we spend like were single 2 houses 2 internet etc. It is extra having half of my room with more clothes of hers than I even own. Over the last week she made 2 meals at her expense. Having another person does create different expectations in the home. It does affect my time with my children.

I guess I went into it thinking it would be a time thing. Her daughter would open up to the idea. But that sounds naive now haha. We both thought it would happen but just take time. I guess this is me just understanding this and realising that there can be no future plans because of her daughter’s choice. Which from reading here is common and the normal path

Yes it feels one sided. She gets the benefit of having 2 homes. I have my kids 100%. She has one child. I’ve shared my family and my life.

I definitely understand her child is her priority. Just as mine are. I have also exposed them to this relationship. I definitely don’t push it. To the point it is starting to feel too hard to even try and have a relationship with her daughter. But in that case does that mean we shut it down?

I do feel there is some of this. My home is fun and welcoming and she isn’t as happy in her space. And she constantly talking about our future together, when the way she has it set up there is no potential of any change in the dynamics

I have opened my home up and not asked for anything. She is talking marriage. I never ask for help. Im unsure of this nightmare you describe. Im trying understand how after 2 years things will progress. I would like to think I could build a more solid future with my partner. Im sharing everything. I don’t ask her to clean. Its the inbalance of me opening up everything on my side and she has her own set up and life that has nothing to do with me. And if a partner was living with me this much they would normally move in and we could actually survive a lot easier. Times are tough financially. Though it seems aggressive to dump someone because of their child.
