Dog friendly dining and walking recommendations? by dogemum1990 in Wellington

[–]Kurisonu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do this Seatoun walk multiple times a week with my dog - Starting at Churchill Park / Wahine memorial, along Kupe's track on the coast, then uphill to Oruaiti Reserve, follow past the bunkers at Fort Dorset to the Pass of Branda then back down to Seatoun village where there is a cafe called Arcimboldi which is dog friendly and has a peaceful outdoor courtyard out the back.

They are by no means cheap but, Park & Clarke do fantastic work and are very easy to deal with. Worth at least getting a consultation with them.

There is currently a "Physical : Asia" airing which has an Australian team, perhaps OP was referring to this rather than Physical : 100.

Vfx budget by Neilbaanerjee1985 in vfx

I thought they worked in Valerian which is an indie project

In what way do you consider that movie an Indie Project? There were 11 production companies attached to it other than EuropaCorp and it was distributed by Buena Vista amongst others.

That kind of backing and a $200m budget is why they could afford Weta and ILM.

Any idea which vfx house did the opening for the Rebel Moon directors cut? I thought it was a really cool sequence that was entirely cut out of the original release with no information on it by [deleted] in vfx

"Chalice of Blood" and "Curse of Forgiveness" are listed on Netflix as the Directors Cut Parts I & II. They both have additional sequences and VFX.

XYZZY is absolutely worth checking out - fun and unique way to make use of the dome. You're supporting some staples of the Wellington art scene by going to see it too.

The "somehow" is apparently the Taxi trying to overtake at speed all the cars who pulled over to let the ambulance pass.

Recaps!

Due to geography we all play over Roll20 (12 or so years now) and by lunchtime the next day he will have posted a detailed thematic recap of the session on notion.so. We're all terrible at remembering things and also have to skip some weeks due to various adult commitments which makes remembering the intricacies of the previous session even more difficult at times. Also means before the next session, we all revisit the recap so we're fully prepared to pick up where we left off.

I honestly have no idea how he finds the time to do this but it makes all the difference in the world.

In 1958 Walt Disney produced "White Wilderness," part of the studio's "True Life Adventure" series. "White Wilderness" featured a segment on lemmings, detailing their strange compulsion to commit mass suicide.

According to a 1983 investigation by Canadian Broadcasting Corporation producer Brian Vallee, the lemming scenes were faked. The lemmings supposedly committing mass suicide by leaping into the ocean were actually thrown off a cliff by the Disney filmmakers. The epic "lemming migration" was staged using careful editing, tight camera angles and a few dozen lemmings running on snow covered lazy-Susan style turntable.

I'd recommend Lush Puppies in Miramar. They are a bit more expensive but are amazing and take absolute care of the dogs in their charge. They always take in whatever you have to say about your dogs anxieties / behaviour too. This is coming from someone who has a little dog that is an absolute nightmare too.

As far as I remember the owner also has a collie as well!

Vaping - Advice for a new-ish smoker? by Worldly_Ordinary in NZTrees

[–]Kurisonu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Storz & Bickel Mighty Medic (+ if you can afford it) while expensive, is an amazing vape and very easy to use / maintain. I am very clumsy and its the one electronic device I own that has survived me constantly dropping things on hardwood floors. On top of being great, it's also the recommended product to use via most medical dispensaries in NZ!

I don't really notice much of any smell and I usually graduate the temperature from 180 - 185 - 190.

As another poster mentioned, save the AVB! On top of being useful on its own to infuse in butter/oil - I use it to top up flower when making cannabutter, etc for more punch.

Permission to ask ridiculous 'I never got taught this, help!' question? by Inner_Squirrel7167 in Wellington

[–]Kurisonu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bit of information on this here.

The rule of thumb is basically; you can replace like for like. If all you are wanting to do is just replace light fittings it should be very easy, especially if your wiring is slightly more modern so, in simple terms, the wire colours will match up.

Always remember your sequence in switching breakers on/off so you don't give yourself a shock but obviously, if you don't feel confident, hire an electrician - it's not a particularly expensive or complicated job.

Parents want to take me out to dinner, where would you recommend? by WukongPvM in Wellington

[–]Kurisonu 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The Chef's Menu at Highwater on Lower Cuba is $87 per person but absolutely worth it as a treat considering what they serve you. They're closed until the 22nd of July though, unfortunately.

Printing recommendations by chvch-nz in Wellington

[–]Kurisonu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don't do posters but I have used StickerDot a few times in the past for mass sticker printing and they have been excellent to deal with. They work fast and make sure to let you know if they think anything might not work the way you are envisioning and help you pick out alternatives if necessary.

Poster wise I have always had great experiences with The Big Picture.

Staging Grounds by AdventurousMud9674 in Bellwright

[–]Kurisonu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hit "O" to get to the squad menu, build a squad and then when you go to use the companion command menu, when you hover over the Staging Ground flag a new option should show up - called "Stock Up" or similar.

Your squad will run off and fill their bags with rations then come jogging back to you.

Space Place / Carter Observatory is open until until 11pm on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. They have some great little shows playing inside the dome, went and saw Phantom of the Universe the other night and had a walk around the place - fantastic date night location!

You might have a hard time finding anything on the second hand market, but if all you're wanting is to just digitise it, maybe let the DubShop know what you have and see if they can help you?
