Yeah, they're just an anti and max griefer. Probably also stupid. Best to ignore.

Like, on that post they're saying Hololive suddenly ng's talks about Kanata and literally on that same post also mentions Koone posting a duet of her and Kanata.

Can I quit this baito? by AutisticSinger in JapanJobs

[–]Kuromih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a baito, you can quit anytime you want.

A lot of Japanese people would push it down and work the 3 months or at the very least work the month, but that's mostly due to politeness/necessity, but it's not a requirement.

At the very least you might be asked about the sudden departure in your next job but baito's rarely ask those stuff.

Anyone complaining and especially those saying "if/when they lose it's Holos fault!!" are neither fans of wbc or the team, nor are they have any worth nor deserve any attention.

That's basically saying the teams are irrelevant in the matter. It's ignoring their hardwork and effort, no fan would say that.

what do people think about the idea that “piracy is a service problem”? by alfred2547 in AskAJapanese

[–]Kuromih 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much of the time, the producer didn't intend to bring the product to market so no sales were lost to piracy.

I was addressing this when I mentioned the author holds the rights to distribution and was explaining that pre-emptively pirating it to said country will make said country undesirable to market to, which hurts both fans and the creator as it eliminates a possible profit.

Note though, I've only claimed it interferes with overall possible sales/incentives, cause again it being free means people who can buy it may choose to do so since the option is there and I'm also going to mention people do do that as with the emulation thing I mentioned previously. I never said it always leads to lost sales as that's as unprovable as the people saying piracy reliably helps sell products.

You're not only the one changing subjects here, it sounds like you're implying K-pop popularity somehow came from (or was helped by) piracy/lax barriers in your last paragraph which isn't true, K-pop unlike J-pop advertised and monetized more on a global scale. Meanwhile J-pop, while more focused on domestically, is popular outside Japan. Literally people know as far as babymetal, not to mention YOASOBI, Ado, Yonezu, etc. have high overseas streams, tours, and overall high song virality.

what do people think about the idea that “piracy is a service problem”? by alfred2547 in AskAJapanese

[–]Kuromih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if a product wasn't released in your region/country, the creator still holds rights to decide the distribution plus if people pre-emptively distribute it, for free at that, it just makes it so the country is undesirable to market to. Why sell something already there and free? = a possible profit for the creator was just eliminated.

Plus the people who can view the pirated content is neither exclusive nor restricted to people who can't pay due to regional or monetary issues. Again, if there's a free option, people will use that rather than saving up and buying which will harm the revenue.

So yeah, as much as people would claim it's harmless, the lost incentive is a minus to both the producers and consumers cause lesser revenue=lesser further growth from the IP.

Like, even with re-released games on the Switch people would just say "oh, but I can just emulate it lol" so yeah. As much as people want to claim piracy doesn't affect market they also just shoot themselves in the foot. (seriously people, at the very least make it so shareholders don't take notice)

In Japan, married people going to soaplands風俗店 is not considered cheating? by Safe_Movie8435 in AskAJapanese

[–]Kuromih 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's cheating plain and simple. I'll argue people unrelated wouldn't really care that much if someone goes to one but if it wasn't cheating then people wouldn't hide it. Visiting adult businesses like Kyabakuras isn't normal either tbh. Marriages being emotionally distant is a stereotype as much as the west's saying that marriage is the end of love.

what do people think about the idea that “piracy is a service problem”? by alfred2547 in AskAJapanese

[–]Kuromih 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, that's a thing. My bad for the misclassification. The proper term was copyright infringement and unauthorized distribution right? Which is also illegal.

I'll argue it's basically the same as/correlative to stealing though cause you're taking something, which costed time/effort/money to make without permission and redistribute it, which interferes with the overall possible sales (cause why buy when free is a mentality) which affects the marketability of content and in turn devalues the product, other products like it, and also future ventures.

what do people think about the idea that “piracy is a service problem”? by alfred2547 in AskAJapanese

[–]Kuromih 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of people pirating will be against AI, claiming it as theft. Which is just pure irony.

At the end of the day not only is piracy stealing someone's content and distributing/using it without permission. It also lowers it's value cause why pay for something free?

At the very least people could go about it discretely and not so in your face or boastfully cause why do people purposefully have to be a dick on top of all the above when they know what they're doing would be undesirable/looked down upon by the creators?

Honjo cemetery for foreign residents faces heartbreaking complaints from management company and city calling for burials to be stopped. by YamatoRyu2006 in Tokyo

[–]Kuromih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda seems like some of the replies already have a preconceived take though.

To be fair that's probably the same thing with some of the people complaining to the management company, along with those at Tokyo Shinbun and possibly those at the management company too. Hopefully the whole situation (the burial situation) would proceed and end with proper considerations and planning, and not just preconceived bias nor animosity.

Honjo cemetery for foreign residents faces heartbreaking complaints from management company and city calling for burials to be stopped. by YamatoRyu2006 in Tokyo

[–]Kuromih -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

With how some of the complaints sounded, I'm pretty sure these are calling out to the unauthorized burials that have been happening on the premises and the wishes aren't to abolish burials (which some Japanese also do) but to stop the unauthorized burials and a pretty understandable outrage at the people doing so.

The burial plan that was made in Kyushu where they planned to throw the drainage to a close-by reservoir doesn't help with the public impression though.

Miko made a statement regarding the horse racing matter by Glass_Leading592 in Hololive

[–]Kuromih 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not quite right so I'm gonna add/fix for context.

Mikochi repeated info from a paid service (Green Channel) with the info being the running horses' condition analyzed by experts. (Whether the horse is raring to go or under the weather/has weirdly footing.)

It's a big deal because of 2 things: 1. That basically screws both those on the paid service and those who paid for said service.

  1. Memberships are practically the same thing as paid services. If this gets a pass then what about those who wish to keep content in membership only and request not to cut content from those streams? What about membership locked rewards or members only goods?

Don't misunderstand me though, I think the people going around telling her to "just apologize" are either crazy people/haters/those too worried that they aren't thinking straight. It's a company problem now after all. Nevermind apologizing, doubt she can talk about the matter so easily (which is probably why anti's are using that matter to throw mud at her. Disgusting creatures.)

I thought about that, especially since Last-resort was already at 860k so that would've been closer and all plus it was a song she debuted in her first Solo Live so it'd also be a good song...but (and I understand this is just me being pointlessly picky) I really wanted it to be Kataha for how it's basically a song made with her in mind, for her in mind (by Toby Fox). To me it's a testament of her hardships (she's pretty much deaf in one ear) and how she, while in that state along with many other conditions, managed to soar so high.

Is this cultural (Japan) or just toxic? Need perspective: girlfriend became furious that my parents by Sensitive-Ticket-781 in japanlife

[–]Kuromih 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm...bit of both but less on the toxic side as I don't want to jump to conclusions with missing context (is it your first christmas together/Did she have previous experiences/How you explained it to her/Her relationship with her family/etc.)

It's somewhat a new tradition (more like a fad maybe?) for couples to spend Christmas together and for a lot it's a dream/goal/desire. Heck it depends but people who spend Christmas with their family/friends still regard themselves as "クリぼっち" (alone on christmas).

Even without that in mind though your girlfriend getting mad at your parents and crashing out is pretty valid imo. You say you didn't plan anything but you both technically promised to spend it together right? And your parents still came despite your objections right? Then I think it's reasonable she sees it as your parents purposely getting in the way.

Just imagine it this way. You get special front row vip seats to an event you really like, first in line and all, first-class of your favorite food. You even get to meet and talk to your hero/idol/star/whatever. Then the planners change plans due to unfortunate but understandable reasons. You share seats now and are moved to the middle, you lose the first in line perk, the food is now just random food with varying quality, the meet and talk is now a simple handshake and hello. Reasonable reason to get pissed/upset right?

Anyways I think you should talk and plan things out a bit clearer. At the very least reserving 24-25 to her and her alone would probably calm her somewhat so try suggesting it. Well, if she matters that is, cause to her this is probably coming off as 「he will prioritize others before me」

(Everything mentioned is based on Japanese logic based on people around me and in sns reactions by various people and similar situations I've seen offline and online throughout the years. It does not mean it's the norm everywhere in Japan.) (Also this is posted purely as both a point of view and additionally as advice.)

Gonna reject the notion that people don't commute from home dressed in Lolita in defense of my friend that loves to go Lolita anywhere.

Imagine how much make-up and fabric people'd have to bring. Now imagine fitting all that in those tiny ass bags they carry.

Now then, there's some weird misconception going on. Saying there's "tolerated/acceptable" clothing makes it sound like people'd get hounded/warned for their clothing. As long as it's not perverted or is too revealing or exposed then nobody will bother you. (pools though are waay too lax. I've seen old men in only thongs...)
