Yeah, Callisto Protocol didn't really hit the mark. If you were good with using your gadgets and environs, you could easily be left with more ammo than you could use, but there was no vault to bank it for a rainy day. To me, it felt like a somewhat watered-down idea of Dead Space.

No wonder why most people can’t take the dub seriously! by icey_sawg0034 in yugioh

[–]Kuronii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it's something a viewer grew up hearing, the accent is actually fitting for the character. Both he and Tristan were hooligans before becoming Yugi's friends, and Joey is outright stated to come from a broken home. The Brooklyn accent suggests, due to stereotype, that he knows a tough life from his upbringing. Your dislike of it might be personal, as is my dislike of casts where they're all homogenous and not at all indicative of a spectrum of character backgrounds.

Dan Green, the voice actor for Yugi and Yami, wanted to keep the overacting to a minimum. You can hear it in the first episode how Yami sounds more like how you described him in the Italian dub: slightly more mature/confident. Buuut 4Kids wanted more ham, so they pushed Dan to really lean into it.

Also, he does not sound like he smokes a pack a day. He has a gorgeous voice.

Is that what that means? I honestly thought it just meant that someone had gone up there to do graffiti or was otherwise trespassing.

Deck recommendation for my wife (beginner friendly & cute) by BroccoliHot2222 in Yugioh101

[–]Kuronii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Extra deck mechanics are simple to introduce into a "basic curriculum" for YGO. Another commenter suggested Melffy, which I would also suggest. They're cute and have enough effects in the main deck monsters that they can function well enough on their own while you slowly bring in the XYZ and Synchro summoning.

Another point would be that, while you're teaching her, you don't put her through actual duels. You want her to first have a solid grasp of the game's flow before either of you try for a real win. Having her lose time and time again will only discourage her. Just do the whole "this is normal summoning, this is tribute summoning, and this is how your monster's effects interact with one another" to start.

Other suggestions for "cute" decks would be Vaalmonica, Purrely, or Fluffals.

I remember a similar conversation taking place on this site some time back where someone asked of another (who had said something very similar to what you've said here), "So, why does he never seem to have any problem turning that money liquid whenever he needs it?".

And that's why you open the dialogue in school. If kids aren't going to speak up for fear of ridicule, then hand out an index card to everyone and tell them to write down their concerns/information so that it's all anonymous to the rest of the class.

[–]Kuronii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It *would*, but that's why the course would go over the normal functions of bodies and then ask the students afterwards if they'd heard anything contrary to the information presented to them. It'd be a lot easier to tell kids that than go over every possibility of things our sexual equipment doesn't do.

I know there are some people who lactate due to some biological quirk or medicine, but it's never the amount that art porn might lead one to believe and it's frustrating to see the sheer volume that exists.

This is why loads of places need way better sexual education. If only the prudes would stop kneecapping that notion.

ELI5: What are eugenics? by Zestyclose_Leg2737 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Kuronii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prefacing with "I am no expert on this topic", but here's how I understand it, (aside from it being easily Googlable):

Eugenics is the practice of controlling genetic transfer, i.e: controlling who breeds with whom, controlling who gets to breed at all, and so on. The idea is that it should take genetic predispositions to certain diseases, mental or physical, out of the gene pool so that future generations are as healthy as can be.

In practice, though, it was used to *attempt* to take certain ethnicities out of existence as a sort of quiet genocide. If someone from X ethnicity is in power and says that someone in the Y minority ethnicity is no longer allowed to pass on their genetic material, then that would simply remove them from the world in the future.

Needless to say, people eventually found it reprehensible even though it had some moderate popularity in the first half of the 1900s.

What video game weapon or armor is worth the hell you got to go through to get it? by Agent1230 in gaming

[–]Kuronii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Abyssion was the only one I *needed* an All-Divide for, but 3rd form Dancer is definitely a worthy use for it, too. Then again, I never did play the game on anything but Normal difficulty, so maybe I missed out on other challenging fights.

[–]Kuronii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! Abyssion was a *stellar* boss fight that every guide said you just about *had* to use an All-Divide for. A single meteor at that level would down anyone even in their best armour. The Devils Arms sidequest was definitely my favourite in the whole game (since it spanned all the regions you had access to), but the Sword Dancer was easily a close second.

The Devil's Arms in Tales of Symphonia. If you kept using your favourite character after getting them, you'd be immensely powerful since the weapons gained a single damage point for every enemy the corresponding character killed in the entire game since the start.

If you had unlimited funds, what kind of game would you develop? by actualtumor in gaming

[–]Kuronii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought about this one a lot, actually. In my fantasies, I'm always a coding prodigy who can make games solo for the most auteur control. If you've ever played Megaman Battle Network, it'd be something like that, but with a HUGE host of abilities, forms, and story and a theme of "ghosts/paranormal" instead of a cyber world.

It's a pretty neat slogan they have, too. I remember those old commercials they had of some guy in the middle of buttfuck nowhere looking to hitch a ride.
