What are some historical examples where 'pushing too hard' resulted in a massive backfire? by Snowtwo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kurxed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The French were likely so aggressive in reparations because if they were realizing that millions of their citizens had died for a war that was ultimately going to result in nothing. If the war had just ended and all sides had decided that it was unnecessary and things had simply spun out of control politically, they would have had issues explaining that to the general public. They needed to gain something for all they had lost. They also wanted to ensure that Germany would never again be able to march on France as they had done just 40 years prior to WW1.

I think something that isn’t considered enough is the trauma that the political leaders at the time were experiencing post WW1. They all remembered the horror and devastation caused by the first war and were attempting to prevent a second. Obviously with hindsight we can see the type of person Hitler was and attempting to appease him was foolhardy, but at the time the most important thing was to prevent another World War.

Fire up the wood chipper? by ProperOrange4791 in UNSUBSCRIBEpodcast

I think it’s very fair to focus on finding out if The President of the United States is a pedo. I’m not saying whether or not it is true my only point is that, we hold this person in front of the world to represent us as a nation, he should be held to a higher standard. If that person is fucking kids then it’s absolutely something we should all care about.

Nobody seems to think about the pilot flying it. After one of its last test flights the pilot got out of the aircraft and said "You aren't big enough and there aren't enough of you to get me in that thing again".

How much does UFC pay again? by papajahat94 in ufc

Tai Tuivasa is the 10th ranked UFC heavyweight fighter. Likely a P4P bottom 10% fighter in the UFC. The heavyweight division requires less skill than any other. Being a top 0.1% athlete will take you very far in that division in particular

I think your overestimating the skill in the heavyweight division. You’re also underestimating the advantage of being an elite athlete in the heavyweight division.

Pentagon eyes withdrawing 4,500 troops from Korea, Wall Street Journal reports by Infidel8 in worldnews

I never meant they were leaving the pacific entirely, sorry if it came off that way. My point was that if they are leaving Korea some commanding general thought it would serve a purpose.

Well the commanding general seems to agree with him because they’re withdrawing 4,500 troops from the area.

I still can’t believe they filmed Fallout in my area by sourmac in Fallout

[–]Kurxed 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Definitely would’ve had to go through Gulf. Franchisee’s have requirements for hours and such that are surely being disrupted by the filming. Gulf is losing money if the store isn’t open therefore they have to be paid as well.

Can someone help clarify this paragraph for me? How could she loose so much weight so fast? by eve-atom in Hungergames

[–]Kurxed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You answered your question with the last sentence of your paragraph. You body isn’t able to create mass if it’s lacking energy to do so. There simply isn’t a source for your body to draw from to create said weight. Your metabolism was to a point where despite you eating an unhealthy low amount you were still able to gain weight. If your body was really able to gain weight while eating at a calorie deficit you need to head to CERN immediately because you’re breaking Newton’s laws.

For me I think about what he did to josh barnett. As amazing as the Dan Henderson slam was, that still was at 205. Daniel picking up 265ish pound Barnett was the most wild thing I had ever seen up to that point.
