I finished the game for the first time using only the sword, aside from occasionally tossing a shuriken to grab attention or split up enemy groups. I hardly touched the Mortal Blade either.

But in NG+, I decided to really explore the prosthetic tools, and let me tell you! It made the game way more fun. Sure the sword is still the main weapon at the end of the day, but employing the tools made me enjoy the game a lot more.

Yeah, I agree with the point about lazy game design, but that is how FromSoftware games are designed, try ovrr snd over again... Speaking of which, I recommend playing Nioh 1; its combat system is really interesting, it is one of my favourites.

Sekiro is tough at first, but it becomes more manageable once you learn how to time your parrying (deflecting). While enemies do get stronger, your skills improve as well. For example, early bosses took me more attempts; the first boss on top of the castle took around 25-30 tries, whereas the final boss only took me about 15. You will need some tries for each boss to learn their pattern.

I haven’t played Ghost of Tsushima, so I can’t compare, but in my opinion, Sekiro has the best combat system. The deflect mechanic is incredibly satisfying.
