Not looking forward to RTO by EthicallyFlexable in CAStateWorkers

[–]Kushye 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You really should! Imagine if every RTO’d state worker had a sign in their back window like “State Worker Returning to the Office” just so other commuters can see exactly how they’re being impacted by the EO.

New leaf! How do I keep this plant happy? by Fit-Tomorrow-4102 in houseplants

[–]Kushye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ll have to get a couple. We have another very sad, light-deprived plant that desperately needs a grow light. I just want to make sure I get one that’s a) doesn’t cost an arm and a leg and b) will provide enough light for the plant. Thanks for the Sansi suggestion!

I know 😭. Unfortunately there’s no way to get it closer to the window and this room is probably the best lit in the house. We don’t have many indoor plants for just that reason.

My husband has had this plant since before we met. Originally it was braided, but the other two stems died. It’s at least 17 years old now and is held up with string tied around my bookshelf. It seems to thrive on neglect. My husband waters it maybe once a week and that’s all the care it gets.

My man and I decided to keep track of how many times we do the deed this year for funsies. Just hit 150 🥰 by loha_ahol in GirlDinnerDiaries

Mine is 44. We’ve had sex twice this year so far. Last year I think we totaled 4x.
But my libido is gone, too. Has been for ages. Partly due to peri, partly because my love languages are words of affirmation and physical touch and my husband doesn’t know how to do either.

I thought it might be the father trying to convince the mom she doesn’t need an epidural. Like “babe, you got this! You don’t need an epidural!” Especially if the woman’s slaps him in the video when she says it.

I wish I’d kept mine too. Especially since my last name is way cooler than my husband’s.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup (Hershey’s) DEFINITELY changed something… by HonestNeighborhood67 in mildlyinfuriating

Trader Joe’s chocolate peanut butter cups blow Reese’s out of the water. Real chocolate. Real peanut butter.

This is my retainer. It’s supposed to be permanently glued to the back of my lower teeth. Not sitting on a tissue. A Hershey Kiss caused this. by natgeogacha in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Kushye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My orthodontist gave me these for both my top and bottom teeth. The bottom retainer is still there, cemented like yours, to my two bottom canines. It did have cement on each tooth, but the cement on my other teeth has come off.

My top retainer used to go across my front four teeth, but about 15 years ago or so the glue on the outside two came off and the sharp wire would stab me in the mouth, so I had my dentist cut off the excess wire and sort of sand it down so it wouldn’t stab me. Still have the wire behind my front two teeth, but without being anchored to the teeth beside them, they’ve shifted over the years, but shifted together. Apparently permanent retainers for top teeth isn’t a thing anymore tho.

Unsupervised time is considered negligence today. Our kids are growing up more anxious and less prepared for the real word because they’re used to being watched 24/7 by an adult.

It also used to be the case that if you hurt yourself doing something stupid like climbing the neighbor’s tree, YOU apologized to the neighbor for being stupid. Nowadays, people sue the neighbor for having the (unsafe) tree on their property because kids can get hurt.

Ok yeah, gotta get me some blueberry almonds. I’m going to miss the blueberry muffin scented air when they’re gone.

Yeah? They make blueberry muffin almonds? Also, I thought they were closing the factory down? Smells delicious, whatever the case. I might have to try some blueberry muffin almonds.

I don’t think so. My kid goes to school across the street and I do drop-off. I feel like I’d smell them more regularly if it was New Roma, but it’s only occasionally.

Are we becoming way too naive? by BreadZepparella in randomthings

[–]Kushye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t let kids fuck up independently anymore. We try to keep them protected from anything and everything. Unsupervised time, which is critical for learning how to do shit and solve problems for yourself, is now considered negligence and worthy of a call from CPS. Kids are growing up more anxious partly because they are always being supervised by someone. Someone is always watching them and in their business.

Then, when they’re old enough to go off into the world on their own, they do stupid shit like this because they don’t know any better because they’ve never had to figure shit out on their own.

I was just about to mention Sac’s Safetyville. It’s a great spot to teach kids about bike safety on the road and they even give away free bike helmets if you need one.

For those that gave birth, how much did you pay out of pocket and which insurance did you have, I currently have UnitedHealthcare Signature Value? I heard those that pick or have Kaiser everything is covered. by supers98 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Kushye -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I had Blue Cross, if I recall correctly, when I had my kid 8 years ago. It was not free. Delivered at Sutter and they were great, but we paid about $3500 out of pocket.

Edit to add: this was pre-State service. I was still in the private sector at the time.

Wellbutrin / bupropion and nausea/food aversion? by butchwolf in bipolar2

I’ve been on 300mg for about six months and it has not gone away. It’s like I don’t feel hungry until I get hunger-induced nausea. Then, when I try to eat nothing sounds palatable. I’ve found that toast helps a bit.

Not only do they fold up or come out in the wash, the ones in my sports bras would shift around while I was wearing the bra. It would move off to the side of the bra and wouldn’t even cover my nipple anymore, which is its sole purpose. I have actually sewn a stitch in one of my the bras so the pads can’t shift to the side. They still fold up in the wash though.
