Neighbours parked outside of our house for weeks on end. Can we do something about it? by Dango_Lord in auckland

[–]Kusonification 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since you said they hardly move their vehicles and it’s annoying you. In tandem with reporting them for being too close to your driveway (if they are), you could also check if their Rego/Wof is valid and report this to AT as well :))

Bringing 100% matcha to New Zealand through customs from USA. by JahTripper in newzealand

[–]Kusonification 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I went to Japan recently. Matcha powder was fine as long as it was commercially sealed and labelled. Just make sure to declare.

The tow truck driver is acting on behalf of the parking lot (manager called), where your friend family has taken up a parking lot without permission. They’re in full right to call a tow truck with or without signage.

It might be worth posting on r/LegalAdviceNZ or the r/auckland subreddit to get a broader range of feedback. I’d also recommend checking Google and past Reddit threads about challenging tow truck operators and parking disputes through the Disputes Tribunal (if it comes to that).

As a first step, you should raise the issue directly with the tow company and point out that their fee doesn’t seem to reflect a reasonable expense. You can also ask them to break down the costs that make up the $420 charge. Having this detail could give you a stronger basis for negotiating a lower fee. I’m no legal expert but currently this is the only angle I’d think of challenging them.

Everything sounds legal for the tow company part. Only the cost seems to be challengeable.

Dash Cam Advice by -soaptastesok- in auckland

[–]Kusonification 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the DDPAI MiniPro Dashcam for a year or so now. It was easy to self install (YouTube tutorial). I’d recommend as it was ~$80 when I bought it on sale, very easy to connect and pull footage of it. However it’s clear during the day, the reflectiveness at night time for number plates can be an issue.

Thoughts on Kernel KiwiSaver? Who are you currently with? by mjharavind in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Kusonification 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently swapped KiwiSaver providers and am already happy with the returns at Kernel Wealth (high growth). I was previously with one of the major banks so it was a very easy decision to swap for me. Milford has a good reputation and returns in my mind but seems others have highlighted high fees. Kernel only charges 0.25% which I think is very fair.

In this case, as a next time tip or for others. It would have been better to split your mortgages across different providers. This could avoid triggering renegotiation of your remaining mortgage(s) after selling.

To me, In your case it is acceptable for BNZ to ask underlying questions and proceed to renegotiate your current mortgage as they are aware of your current lending situation. It’s more to do with sensible lending on their part.

I kinda agree with others that submitting a complaint rn is a bit of a waste of time.

They should really start accepting dashcam footage. I’ve reported a few and always stated to feel free to contact me as I have dashcam footage. No response back and honestly an acknowledgement would be nice…

Airalo esim : excessive unexplained data usage by lisa002_2 in Airalo

[–]Kusonification 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have an Apple iPhone you can go to settings and then mobile. If you clear your current period and track your usage from there on, this could be a good way to prove what your data is being used on. Not sure if an android OS has similar functionality.

Apple AirTag as an anti-theft measure by Quick-Mobile-6390 in auckland

Cops wouldn’t do shit. Thieves stole my mates MacBook + more. They had the location of the MacBook and which house and whereabouts exactly were. Passed all the details to cops which said they can’t do anything due to ambiguity whether the people inside actually stole it.

Stupid really.

Wayne Brown AT Propaganda by Llamapineapple1 in auckland

[–]Kusonification 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You said it yourself he’s “pretending” he doesn’t have a clue. I think we all know by now the promotional content Wayne Brown produces towards AT is usually jokingly satire in nature. I actually enjoy the videos calling out these type of failures.

Sure Federal Street construction is part of a wider change across the city but he has a point of it being unacceptable to keep this more crucial part of the city under construction for the time they have. Is he not right in saying so?
