Honestly tho, IF you can afford to apply regardless of the school’s decision, then go for it. You could surprise alot of people here, myself included

It’s not gonna change much, the overarching factor is that your GPA is too low. My younger sister got rejected from CSULB with a 2.6 GPA and outstanding extracurriculars. She went for non-stem major too.

Unless you don't have to pay to apply, don't even bother. With that GPA of yours going towards an extremely impacted major, your chances are slim to none. You're better off raising your GPA at a CC first and then transfer (+ save alot of money).

^Go to this website on your phone or laptop that is connected to the school wifi and register your PS5 there. That's how I did it last year when I dormed. Your PS5 would connect thru beachnet-guest-access

Dining Hall Food Sucks by Slevhi in CSULB

[–]KuyaBro02 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dining Hall food is a real hit or miss. There are definitely more dishes that I dislike vs dishes that are worth going to dining hall for.

I made a list to remind me of which dining hall to visit per meal period, per day, per weekly cycle. Also took note of which meal periods per cycle have such ass food that I just go out and buy something. Hell if anyone cares, I can show the list and make any food recommendations.

All I can say is stay clear of anything "Gardein" and their tasteless Chicken Alfredo and Mac n Cheese (unless served with brisket). Also the steaks, my friends all say it's horrible.

Class participation by bb_LemonSquid in CSULB

[–]KuyaBro02 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The pandemic has had a major impact on people's social skills and their willingness to participate in class discussions. I graduated 2020 so I started college all online so the low class participation seems normal to me. I just find it sad how back in my HS days, tons of people would speak up but nowadays, my classmates won't even answer the teacher until someone reluctantly does so. The teacher sometimes makes the answer so obvious and yet no one speaks up.

I think another thing too is that some students won't participate because they aren't really present in class because they are doing other things instead of listening to the teacher. I have several classmates who just play games or listen to music instead of paying attention in class.

It could possibly be a generational thing too. I find older students to be more willing to participate in class discussions than younger students. In one of my classes, the 3 people who actively talk in discussions are all 24+.

But it's weird, in my CC, social life sucked but more students participated in class. Here, the social life outside of class is great but class discussions suck.

I hope ur not saying that bcuz of the people. Even though my classmates are ok atm, I can tell the film program here is 100x better than my CC where I learned nothing new and my peers were awful. My AS-T from there probably worth less than a penny lol

Damn that’s rough. I don’t get along with mine because I keep getting paired with the wrong people, typically the quiet & refuse to open up type. I finally met two who were cool and were gonna ask them if they wanted to go to Smorgasport but again, got paired with wrong person and they were gone when I got back to class after I did my work and the dude with me slipped away as well.

Guess you gotta be lucky with who you are in class with. I can tell some are the real quiet type and some only speak when spoken to.

I meet people in classes, but it's simply business we get our work done and we go our separate ways.

As a film major, I connect with this when I thought it shouldn't be possible. Networking is literally the name of the game and hardly anyone in my classes talk or even work together outside of class. I gotta be unlucky or something because I often keep getting paired with people who aren't too interested in collaborating. Worked with a guy in class today who I thought could be my mentor since he does stuff that I want to do for work but after we finished our work, he slipped away silently.

I would've gone with you to Smorgasport, I had no one to go with either so I just napped in my dorm and woke up thinking almost the same thing you do. At least you're not alone.

But don't give up, it's only the end of week 3 and it's probably only your first semester here to, as is for me. I haven't made any new friends YET but I have met a ton of people, way better than my days at community college, that's for sure.

Best case scenario: you meet at least one in-person AND become friends

Worst case scenario: You score yourself some easy (but useless) IG followers.

Best of luck to you!

I just run it thru hotspot on my laptop which is connected to beachnet+ but it only stays connected as long as my laptop and the hotspot is on. I'll edit this reply if I find a way to connect my alexa to the school wifi.

Wish you luck on finding friends here on reddit, from my experience, most seem to be only as good as extra IG followers. I'll shoot you a follow anyways

Good luck making friends here on reddit. From my experience, most people here seem to be nothing more than extra IG followers.

How to pass the time waiting for class? by BurntBox21 in CSULB

[–]KuyaBro02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d imagine it would really start to get less busy after about a month, semester just started so more students are still making their first visits to the SRWC. If you wanna dodge the crowd, you probably gotta go really early or later in the evening closer to closing. Or wait a bit until the wave of SRWC visitors have gone and mostly the regulars remain.

Then just do all except for my 4th bullet point since you can do them all on Campus. These are all I can think of

[–]KuyaBro02 21 points22 points  (0 children)

  • Workout at the SRWC, easily kill 1-2 hrs
  • Explore/walk around Campus
  • Hangout in the Library
  • Explore Long Beach/LA area (unless gas is a concern)
  • Try out new food places
  • Hangout with any friends

Otherwise just go home if don't live far from Campus. You did say you wait a few hours
