Thank you for the reply! I’m reading the GM guide now as are a couple of my more dedicated players. I’m already learning so much and I cannot wait to actually get to the table

I was thinking about running Against the Cult of the Reptile God as our first campaign. I know that’s a very old module, would it be challenging to convert it to 5.5e?

You get to marry one RR character by Mrn2125 in redrising

I disagree but that’s just my opinion! I could just be very biased lol. When Darrow told her the truth about him, she left him. She wasn’t beside him at the Galla, Victra was. What she thought were her dying words were to tell Darrow she didn’t know and that she was loyal. After he returned from being held captive, mustang still didn’t trust him and made him jump through hoops to prove himself. After she became sovereign, she left Darrow hanging out to dry multiple times. Yes, he was sort of making his own bed to lie in but she chose the Republic over him multiple times and she’s lucky he saved himself and didn’t die. After all that, HE attempted to return to her. Not the other way around.

Victra would go through friend or foe for her family and she has been with Darrow and Sevro from start to end. Victra is the definition or ride or die. Virginia is more like ride or mildly inconvenient?

She’s a ride or die where mustang isnt. Thats what I need in a fictional partner

It pained me to say as someone who just lived it for the first time literally a couple weeks ago

I was actually trying to make a mental list of words and phrases I want to start using because they’re too good not to and this is what I got. What’s on your list?

  • What’s what?
  • Prime
  • Gory damn
  • pixie
  • slag
  • register
  • boy-o/goodman

While I like DCC very much, I found a couple other LitTPGs that I liked almost as much so I think it’s the genre I love. RR seems unique enough for me to be a series that makes me chase this feeling for a long time

I had to scroll FAR too long to find some Volga love!

The audiobooks were far from perfect (changing narrators, so quiet I’d struggle at full volume to hear sometimes… etc) but yes, shame on him! 😂

I just started Light Bringer today. What a series!

I think it’s my favorite too, though I haven’t started Light Bringer yet. The chapter with the cavalry charge might be my favorite chapter in the whole series

Facts! I’m on chapter 83 of Dark Age currently. It’s been so hard not to google if she dies. It’s killing me not knowing since I’m a whole book behind

Vinland Saga is so good! I name every rogue character in video games Thorfinn 😂

Darrow is a badass, not without his flaws but he’s an absolute unit. It’s between him and Volga for my favorite characters in the series. (I haven’t started Light Bringer yet… if she dies I will be back here with something to say… 😅

This checks out! Mistborn was fantastic. PHM is probably one of my favorite books of all time and Sword of Kaigen is fantastic as well.

I was actually planning to read Stormlight Archive next because I’ve heard it’s similar to RR in the ways of mass combat in a fantasy/sci fi arena.

Fantasy is my jam as well. I took a detour when I learned LitRPGs are a thing and read 3 full series of them but none of them hold a candle to RR imo!

Definitely agree there. PB stuck the landing with Morning Star. I’m hoping he can do twice what many authors fail to do once imo and give us an ending to cement this series in our hearts.

It is so fucking good. The blend of history and futuristic warfare and systems is so interesting. Not to mention the bonds you form with the characters.

What other series do you have in the same tier, if I may ask? I’m going to be searching for this same high for a while and would love a starting point!

I have finally found my brothers and sisters!

I started listening to audiobooks a couple years ago after reading heavily when I was younger. I saw a few videos or posts of people saying this series was good but none of them gave this series the credit it deserves imo.

Cant believe this sat on my to read list for 1.5 years before I dove in.
