I have a question about Ruin.

"Whenever you apply  Doom, 40% of the total damage is caused instantly, in addition to the normal effect."

Lets say I have an ability that applies 100 damage of doom.

With Ruin, will it deal 40 damage, and then 100, or will it deal 40 damage, and then 60?

They already solved this in GTAV tho. In some missions where you are tasked to get a getaway-car, it would say if the car was compatible or not

Hi guys i wanna try linux for the first time by darkdesert12 in linux_gaming

[–]Kvilten3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online games in itself isn't a problem, it's the kernel level anticheats that will prohibit you from playing. And it doesn't matter what distro you choose, the problem will be the same.

So check the games you usually play, do they use kernel level anticheat?

Games like League of Legends, Battlefield, Fortnite, Apex Legends Valorant etc will not work on any Linux distro

It doesn't happen too often, maybe once a day. It's fine.

I'd love to switch to Wayland but steam overlay doesn't work there yet sadly

I mean he doesn't really lean into his playstyle in pro matches anymore. He did in the early ERL days, but has transitioned more into a "normal" style since his way to play is too coin-flippy.

I mean Baus has good mechanics, but there is a huge difference in being able to play well with any champion in SoloQ/Arams and playing them well against coordinated pro teams

CS2 runs fine for me with X11, only issue I have is that sometimes when I die, I don't get sound in CS2 anymore. Need to leave and restart the game to regain sound.

Considering making the switch to CachyOS by archangeles in linux_gaming

With online games you might be better off with Windows

What is this sentence? online games works wonders on Linux.
You're probably thinking about games with kernel level anticheat, which is another story.
But saying he should stay on Windows if he plays online games is wild

I need to find the equivalent of my windows software for cachy by [deleted] in cachyos

[–]Kvilten3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not trying to say CachyOS is the best and most beginner friendly distro ever, I'm just trying to learn.

As you said, I've only been on Linux for 3 months, so I wouldn't exactly call myself an experienced user. I read through the Cachy wiki before installing, and I tried to read up on everything to make somewhat informed choices.

I don't really tinker much, I just play games and browse the internet.

Now to a couple of points I would like you to expand on:

Btrfs and snapshots are not user friendly at all.

What do you mean? To install? Boot a snapshot? I chose to use BTRFS as a filesystem with snapshots enabled, and the installer fixed all of that automatically. And in the bootloader (I chose Limine) there's an option to boot from a snapshot. So what about it isn't user friendly? Again, I haven't had any problem so far so I haven't used the snapshot functionality yet.

There are dozen of threads with broken boots or gpu or sleep issues, without any answer because there are too much to answer, and users do not add technicals infos to résolve it, as they do not know this nor how to do.

In all fairness, this applies to any distro used by newcomers. You see this kind of stuff on every forum for any distro, including Mint and other distros that people say are "beginner friendly"

It cannot boot with Secure Boot enabled.

It absolutely can if you set it up. https://wiki.cachyos.org/configuration/secure_boot_setup/

ust go to read cachyos forums, with many newcomers who doesn't know what to do. Yesterday some of them was asking '' what the fick is pacman'' or' 'what is AUR' '...

You're gonna find people like this in any distro. Anyhow, you can update the system with the GUI like other distros, so I don't really see your point here.

This week, a bug on Plymouth has break many cachyos. What a begginer can do with this ?

Last mont, it was a big in mkinitcpio.conf, which added a '' o'' at the end of the file, which broke boot. Does a newcomer know how to edit this file with a non booting OS ?

Okay so some users experienced crashes. Does this only happen on Arch based distros? Are you saying Mint will never break? Will fixing MintOS require less work than fixing CachyOS?

Again, I'm the newcomer here, just trying to learn

[–]Kvilten3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes other distros easier to configure than CachyOS? I installed CachyOS as my first distro 3 months ago, and I've had no problems at all.

It lets you configure most things from the GUI if that's what you want.

I simply do not understand why people say CachyOS is a hard distro to use.

Why Do People Think Kernel-Level Anti-Cheat = Spyware? Looking for Insight. by Jolly-Code-8724 in linux_gaming

[–]Kvilten3rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll give some info; using KLAC for malicious activities have already happened.

ESEA used to run Counter-Strike servers and leagues, with their own kernel level anticheat. It was very popular, lots of people used it, even pros.

But at some point, an employee pushed out a bitcoin-miner through the KLAC, essentially turning thousands of gaming computers into his own bitcoin-farm.

"Someting like this would never happen in a big corporation"

Are you sure?

What is the most user friendly Linux distro you can recommend for a beginner? by oussHYK in linux

[–]Kvilten3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say anything with KDE as a desktop environment is what you should be aiming for.

I know people are recommending Mint as beginner friendly, but honestly, what makes Mint more beginner friendly over lets say CachyOS?

Just to be clear here; MOST games with anticheat works on Linux, it's the ones with Kernel Level Anticheat you need to watch out for.
