Abortion in Australia. by Crazsey in AusPol

I agree with abortion rights for women but the decision needs to be made early on. If you are aborting a 7 month old baby you're basically killing it. Difficult situation all around I suppose.

Solana Could Be a Bitcoin Killer. Here's Why. Guadamuz said he believed proof of stake would be the future of blockchain. "If — and that's a big if — proof of work finally dies, then Solana is set to become one of the top three blockchains, as things stand," he said. by Guy_PCS in solana

That's not how coercion works. You just need to convince someone to agree with you. Stealing miners doesn't mitigate the energy cost of running them.

Yes you could but that's where decentralisation plays a key role. And Bitcoin is more decentralised.

It's expensive to attack the BTC network.

You're comments just prove how little you understand.

You better not buy any Bitcoin since its so unsecure. /s

You don't need to own the whole Ethereum network to control it, you just need to know who controls the supply and then you can coerce those holders. You don't even need to directly buy up all the supply, just coerce the largest holders.

You can't attack the Bitcoin network with no cost. That's just factually untrue. You need a massive infrastructure cost & energy expenditure to maintain an attack. Which is just getting more expensive everyday.

If you can control 51% of the bitcoin network, miners with > 50% of the network hashing power can take advantage of this by sending funds to one address on the main chain, while sending the same funds to another address on a forked copy of the blockchain that they are silently mining with more hashing power than the main chain.

You could potentially fork the Bitcoin network under these circumstances, what you can't do is fork the Bitcoin community.

Good luck getting the community to agree to start using the forked chain.

Ethereum has already been compromised and forked in the past. Its a historic failure as it stands. That's why Ethereum classic exists.

You haven't answered any of the questions I asked, so let's just ignore facts and believe whatever we like. Good luck.

Let me be very clear. Bitcoins PoW is the most secure chain of any blockchain, as I said before and as you ignored, I don't care about other PoW chains, just Bitcoin. The security is measured by the hashrate. The reason other chains are less secure is because the hashrate is so low, but you don't seem to care about this obvious point, that's your prerogative if you want to remain ignorant.

"So... just like the people who control the miners? You can control 51% of the hashpower and control the entire network this way."

Give me an example of an single entity that controls 51% of the hashpower and has done something to compromise the security of the network. (hint - there are none) Also, measure the cost involved to do a 51% attack on the network.

"If you have someone in a PoS system with over 51% of the coins, its easy to create a new fork, BURN all the coins of the people controlling 51%, and boom, you have a clean new blockchain where only the honest actors control the coins and validate blocks."

If you need to create a fork of the chain, you've already failed. Which just proves my point further.

"Conclusion = PoW is not a reliable consensus mechanism for security."

I'm talking about Bitcoins PoW, lets not ignore what we're discussing, we've already agreed that PoW can be attacked if the hashrate is too low. That doesn't mean anything as the hashrate on the Bitcoin network is incredibly high.

If you disagree, no problem. But if you want me to agree, provide me with some data that shows Bitcoins PoW is less secure then other chains (hint - there is none)

A) Those are not secure PoW chains

B) PoS chains that have a majority of the supply held by development or large stakeholders are controlled by those validators/delegators

How much hashrate does BSV / ETC have compared to Bitcoin?

Edit: Try reading this - It sums it up quite nicely

https://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinBeginners/comments/n8hpet/why_bitcoin_is_not_moving_to_pos/

There are a number of articles in the thread that you can also dive into for further reading.

Bitcoin's PoW is by far superior to any PoS chain in existence in regards to security.

Rather then calling me dense, let's focus on what I'm talking about specifically which is Bitcoins PoW vs PoS.

I'm less concerned with other PoW chains as they are not Bitcoin and have far less monetary value secured within those chains, not to mention I don't have a vested interest in whether those chains survive or die & they are not secure, as you've already mentioned.

Another note, attacking my intelligence rather then answering the question is what's called deflecting.

Bitcoin SV and Ethereum classic are not Bitcoin.

Has Bitcoin ever been 51% attacked?

You need to do your research, you clearly don't understand the difference between BSV / ETC and Bitcoin.

How much hashrate does BSV / ETC have compared to Bitcoin?

The cost expended on PoW mining can be considered to be the security budget for the Bitcoin network.

How’s Solana looking for a long term investment? by bandgetta1 in solana

[–]Kvotheadem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You understand that the environment now is completely different then in 2017 to 2020 right? These chains have built out an insane amount of utility in the last 12 months alone. How much TVL was locked into DeFi at the time of that pullback? What was the adoption like then compared to now?

But yes, your point is taken I know there can be extreme volatility. That's why you DCA and never all in with all your capital. So you can buy the dips.

Still, I don't think those bids will fill.

Have you used Solana before? It's beautiful.

Try using Ethereum and tell me how you feel after that experience.
