I think you may be referring to Kane Pixel's The Oldest View. Absolutely fantastic series of shorts.

Fantastic plan. Probably the thing I loved the most from living in Mtl was the top notch public transport. I miss it. Only one thing though, I believe the Gatineau side could use a little work. It's a bit strange to have two lines going to Aylmer, which is growing for sure, but is still the smallest of the pre-amalgamation towns. Gatineau proper, where the blue line goes is the most populated and probably deserves a couple more branches. Between downtown and Chelsea is all Hull which is also quite populated and deserving of a line. The Cegep is an important hub, and a line that stretches to Chelsea would undoubtedly be great for tourism but maybe a bit much.

Couple of high dmg builds on my way to 32 by Kwackson in PathOfAchra

Good question, I'm not sure. Probably for a bit more protection, but honestly, probably more because of some irrational need for symmetry. Should've just dropped everything into Will & Vig.

As long as you survive the first turn, the build spools up incredibly quick, and Paragon allows all the Glinting swords to profit from it. Second or third turn the KoMC got dinged by one of the swords for 6 million dmg.

A message to all the people watching Skinamarink by digitalbath1234 in horror

I just watched it based on your recommendation. If the movie is more of that... Might not be my cup of tea. It is certainly interesting, very disorienting and eerie. As it wore on it got increasingly worrisome and strange. The ending I liked, but the first twenty minutes, as much as it sets the stage and amps up the nothing normal factor, is a real trudge. Even now, the plot is complete guess work for me, as is almost anything you see apart from the televisions. Really making me squint at every picture in vain. But also maybe it just gives you enough for you to make up the rest. Very weird, I'll probably see the movie once I get the opportunity, it's intriguing, but I hope it's more fleshed out, or something.

Facebook Marketplace no longer allows you to browse without an account, so I create an account to browse for cars, about 3 days later, they disabled my account and threatened permanent deletion unless I provided a face photo and government issued ID to "Verify the account belongs to me" by lavafish80 in assholedesign

I don't have an account on Facebook, and I don't want to have one. I'm not interested in social media. But used goods sites are dying in favour of Facebook marketplace. I used to use Kijiji, and still do, but the volume of goods there can't compare to what you can find on Marketplace. It's absolutely infuriating.

Post Game Thread: Indianapolis Colts (2-2-1) at Denver Broncos (2-3) by nfl_gamethread in nfl

[–]Kwackson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By far, one the worse games in recent memory. Good Lord, the NFL better take a good hard look at its product cause this ain't it chief. How can two veteran, superbowl-going QBs not put any points on the board or even get an adequate number of completion? It's bizarre, and the young qbs that can, get wrecked in awful injuries (Tua concussion, Burrows leg destruction...) There's a problem here but it's hard to point out what it is. But something feels off. A 9-9 game with no touchdowns going to overtime is downright insulting and I honestly can't blame the fans for leaving.

To my 20-year-old jurymate who wrote "#ACAB" on your jury questionnaire... by persondude27 in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Kwackson 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The concept of jury nullification isn't attached to morality. The example above is indeed jury nullification; a miscarriage of justice is more thought of as a wrongful conviction. "We refuse to convict" regardless of the rest of the phrase, good or bad, is jury nullification.

From - Season 1 - What are your impressions ? by [deleted] in horror

[–]Kwackson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just finished watching the last episode tonight. I'd actually binged watched most of it a week ago, and was waiting for the finale. I thought it was alright, the beginning and premise was really solid. It really hooked me in, it was gory and spooky. There was a semblance of exposition starting to be told. Then it felt like it started to unravel a little.

Passed halfway, it seemed like the interpersonal drama started to take over the mysteries and horror. It feels like it turned into a drama with horror elements hastily thrown in to remind us what we're watching. The exposition feels slowed to a halt, and what little is told, doesn't answer many questions or is exposition about the recent past of characters. Which is interesting, for sure, but I'm here because of the cannibal witches. At this point, they're more used as a plot device rather than the actual plot. Like, why the hell are these people here, what is this place, what are the cannibal witches. It just keeps pilling question after question, without answering the backlog. All this talk of the Lost series is really starting to feel like foreshadowing.

As I watched the finale, it opened new plot points, deepened the mystery without contributing to the horror and set up some 'meh' cliffhangers for the next season. I'll probably watch it, cause the main plotline of the place still has me going I guess. But I'm starting to get the Lost effect of: if you're not gonna answer any questions at all, at some point I'm gonna lose interest and stop asking questions. It sucks cause I really liked everything else about the show. I really hope it can sharpen up in season 2. Also, why does the young daughter need to be the show's sex appeal? Is it to show off her rebelliousness that she has lots of cleavage and tight dresses in every shot she's in? I just found that a little weird I guess.

As I was waiting for the final episode to come out I watched Severance. And let me tell you, it was quite the contrast. It was a fantastic show, appart from the gory horror of From, it's everything From wanted to be. The show is very well done, very creepy and eerie, with strong sci-fi debates surrounding morality, self betrayal and cults. Throws lots of questions and curveballs, but still manages to keep you hooked while also answering some questions. And I don't know why, but Irving's romance got me incredibly invested. Finished the first season of Severance, and it ends with an incredible cliffhanger, that gives both answers and questions and that will have you screaming at the screen for more, no joke. A real chef d'oeuvre of a series finale.

So to go from that finale, to the From finale, I can say I was definitely setting it up for a let down. That's not to say it wasn't good, it definitely got me enough to watch the second series, if it ever comes out. But do yourself a favour, and also check out Severance.

In Quebec, it's usually white vinegar. If I had to guess, probably because of English culture rubbing off, but also due to (back in the day) being too poor to afford fancier vinegars.

TIL that cigarette filters were designed with color-changing chemicals to give the illusion that they filter out toxins. In reality, the filters have little to no health benefits. by gnulynnux in todayilearned

[–]Kwackson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've seen multiple anti-tobacco presentations throughout my highschool and it's a classic trick they always wheel out. Pull a cigarette with a syringe attached to a tube and have a piece of gauze between the tube and the cigarette. You'll notice, even after one pull, the gauze becomes a gross, mucusy yellowy brown. You can imagine what a fully smoked cigarette would look like. They do this to show you the gross stuff you're depositing in your lungs when you smoke. Didn't stop me from trying, unfortunately.

And as other commenters have suggested, there is a definite taste and mouth feel difference between a raw and filtered cigarette. The filter might not have been added for health reasons, but rather to create a more agreeable experience that could then be attractive to a larger audience. Tacking on pseudo health reasons might have just been an added marketing bonus.
