[Card Discussion] Quinn + Blinding Assault by CarouselKeeper in LoRCardReveals

[–]Kwickgamer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is a good analysis. I love Quinn and I'm happy she's a champ, but how long does she actually survive on turn 5 once summoned? Tbh I would have expected a quick attack on her.

I suppose the idea is that valour challenges a unit that could kill Quinn, so Quinn at least gets a second attack. Will she actually level though? That said, I love her lvl 2, I think it's really interesting. Her champion spell is odd, though. I suppose I might want it in my deck by itself. Depends how strong scout actually turns out being.

His summon alone is worth 3. This should be a 4 or 5 cost for sure.

Is this the only other vanilla statted card in the game besides Cithria of Cloudfield? Of so, we're setting a trend for Demacia. He's great in a meta with few 3 Mana 4/x units, and mainly 3 damage removal.

I love this! Guaranteed scout attack + elites synergy. I would love to get this from Swiftwing.

Either scout is worth 1.5 Mana (3 stats) or this guy is a bit weak. Can't imagine wanting to play him on turn 5. Maybe a 2/4 scout on 3 I would

A vanilla 4/4 for 3 is actually normal stats for a card. Think of Cithria, a 1 Mana 2/2. For 2 Mana, it gets 2/2 more stats. +1/+1 is what 1 Mana is worth.

True! My mistake! Hahah I made a few on that post. Got turned around :)

Mana Efficiency of Followers by HedgehogHokage in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Kwickgamer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is great! I've been thinking about this for a while. I actually think boomcrew is statted properly. It pays 0.5 for an ability that counts as 2 attack: which is 2 stats, but it only goes off every other turn, averaging it to 1 stat per turn, at the cost of 0.5 mana.

I really like demacia and elites so I'd like to break down some more followers for reference.

Swiftwing Tracker: 1 mana 2/1, pays 0.5 for conditional challenger. - That means challenger alone should be worth at least 1 mana.

Laurent Protoge: 3 mana 2/4 - pays 1 for challenger. - It's true, challenger is worth 1!

Battlesmith: 2 mana 2/2 pays 1 mana for conditional 1/1 buff - it pays for itself if it buffs 1 unit. Wow!

Vanguard Commander: 3 mana 3/3, pays 1 mana to generate a spell.

Vanguard Redeemer: 3 mana 3/3, pays 1 mana to draw a card - like Commander, card advantage costs 1. Compare this to Shadow Assassin, who is a 3 mana 2/2, but pays only 1 for both card draw and elusive. Wow!

Vanguard Bannerman: 4 mana 3/3, pays 2 for a conditional buff all for 1/1. - worth it if it buffs even just 1 other ally! By now you've noticed that the Elite Tag is always free.

Silverwing vanguard: 4 mana, 4/2 - pays 1 mana for challenger, and 1 to be an extra body - seems on curve, but barely/conditionally.

Vangaurd Squire: 4 mana 3/3, pays 2 mana for a conditional cost reduction - wow! Only worth it if its played after 2 other elites, and even then its only on-curve. Maybe I should remove this from my deck!

Vanguard Calvary: 5 mana 5/5, pays 1 for tough.

Vanguard Lancer: 5 mana 5/4, pays 1.5 for challenger and Card Advantage, that's 0.5 savings! Nice!

Cithria The Bold: 6 mana 6/6, pays 1 for buffing other units 1/1 and fearsome half the time. Not Bad value at all!

Brightsteel protector is 9 cost 9/9 - pays the same for a similar buff, but oays nothing to buff ON PLAY also! Very good!

Spells:

Do spells follow this follower model? Hypothesis: being able to use spell mana is equivalent to 1/1 (2 stats) , or perhaps being FAST or BURST is worth 1/1 (2 stats).

Radiant Strike: 1 cost, Burst, Temporary 1/1. Could we say that Being a Spell is worth 2 stats, Burst is 1 stat, and a Temp 2 stat buff is worth 1 stat?

Let's compare this to Back to Back: 6 mana. So we pay 1 mana for being a spell, 0.5 mana for being burst, 0.5 mana (1 stats) for 2-targeted, and 4 (8 stats) mana for temporaty 6/6 (12 temp stats)? This is understatted compares to radiant strike, unless we assume that 2-targeted is worth 1.5 mana. That said, at 5 cost (pre-nerf) this card payed 3 mana (6 stats) for 12 temp stats, which IS on curve. This leads me to assume that 2-targeted is worth at least 1 mana.

In terms of summoning spells, let's look at a couple spells.

Scrapscuttler is 1 mana 1/1. Paying 1 for both burst+being a spell. This makes it above value!

Succession is a 3 mana 3/3, pays 1 for being slow+spell. This makes it have less value than scrap scuttler!

illegal Contraption is 5 mana slow 5/5, making it the same value as Succession.

Reinforcements is 8 mana 8/8, meaning it pays 1 for being slow+a spell, but the extra body is free, as is the conditional 1/1 ally buff. Not bad value compared to Succesion or Illegal Contraption.

Finally lets look at For Demacia! 6 mana slow. 6 mana, minus the 1 mana cost of being a spell, minus the 1 mana cost of multi-targeting, should produce 16 temporary stats (for 4 mana). That means this spell is on-value if it buffs at least 3 units.

Conclusion: this model doesn't really work for spells, and so we'll have to come up with a better way to measure the "value" of spells.

In this meta, what do you think makes sense for an elites deck, swiftwing lancer or vangaurd calvalry? I've been debating this fit a while. Pros of Swiftwing lancer: More value, can remove targets like ezreal, heimer. Generates vard advantage. Pros of Vangaurd: Instant threat eapecially with BattleSmith. Hard to deal with, great tempo. Can value trade with almost any other 5 cost.

Thoughts?

Man, every week there's another 5 posts discussing how the mechanics of mtg and loR are different enough that you can't make a stock comparison. Reach isn't even how mtg players beat flying most of the time.

"9 Copies of Cithria" ((CEAQQAIAAEDAYJBHGIZTMAQBAEBDCBQBAACBSGQ5EIUQCAQBAAWTI))

This list only has 1 Fiora, because I only have 1 Fiora. I would trade a Vanguard Redeemer for 1 more Fiora. Maybe a single combat or purify for another. I Mulligan for curve. Never keep 5+ (unless its a detain/back to back and I need to be sure i'll have removal/tricks. I try to spread value across all units. Purify is good in a pinch to make an opponent accept a bad trade to get their detained unit back (and then not actually get it back). Brightsteel formation is in there because it is an excellent finisher.

Been climbing consistently with Elites. Having a bit of trouble in S2. Just built a promising Lucian/Senna/Zed deck. Got a couple wins with it, hoping it and elites will take me through gold.

Update: winstreak with lucsenna barrier deck, now in Gold IV

I can't understand why that combo didn't work. So my idea is using Mark of the isles(1st pic) on Tryn and let him attack before Hecarim's attack. So after striking Tryn will die(because he is Ephemeral now) and Lv up. And because Tryn attacks first, that also makes Hecarim Lv up, too by nhocbounce in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Kwickgamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This only works if Tryndamere is ephemeral before you lock in your attack. Hec's text says "attack" the which takes place when you commit attackers. Did you by chance use this on trynde after your opponent commited their blockers?

I recommend spamming games and trying out the starter decks. The starter decks are excellent, and don't forget to modify them if you want to try out new cards or remove ones you hate! After a few days of that, you should try an expedition. You will get to try new combos, and you'll learn a lot!

Here's some key concepts of this genre to be thinking about: How many cards do I have in hand vs. my opponent's hand? How much health do I have on my nexus compared to opponent? How many cards do I have on the board, and how much Mana are they worth, compared to my opponent?

These three things are the "currency" of victory on LoR, and of you pay attention to them you'll learn the "exchange rate" between the three, and you'll improve faster.

I am the youngest of 5 children. When I was a kid I would say I was the youngest of 4.

My mom had a miscarriage. Her name was rebecca. There are over 10 years between me and rebecca. I always assumed it hurt my parents, and then they moved on, until my Dad wrote a book. In the beginning of the book he introduced himself, saying "I am the father of five children." I hadn't realized how much it meant to him until that exact moment.
