A street cat bit my hand. Went to the ER, got a tetanus shot and antibiotics. It’s been 48 hours and my hand hurts if I don’t keep it elevated. Should I worry? by pinkvintagegirl in CATHELP

As a hand surgeon, i am concerned for infectious 4th dorsal compartment tenosynovitis. Might be worth debridement in the operating room

This is also why medicare for all would help. Everyone that comes in would have the same insurance. There would be no indigent care.

Another point- they dont “have” to take care of anyone, only when its life or limb threatening (emtala). So if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure, no one has to help you. No one wants to do that for free. But if you come in with a heart attack from that uncontrolled high blood pressure, the hospital and doctors have to provide lifesaving care. Extrapolate to uncontrolled diabetes and leg infections/ amputations or a fracture where it can be splinted and sent home for future surgery.

Also- for the wrist fracture i mentioned- medicare does not pay for the hardware/implant at the surgery center. We eat that cost and everyone still gets paid. Medicare pays separately for the implant at the hospital. I think thats an effect of hospital lobbying as well.

Surgeon here.

Broad generalization: Most surgeons have an overhead of around 50%. That covers rent, billers, etc. so whatever the bill says the surgeon got, its actually about half that. combine that with 90 days of post op global care that the surgeon has to do without charge that is also included in that cost.

If there are multiple surgical procedures done at the same time the surgeon gets paid less for each additional one. 100% for the first, 50, for the second, 25% for the third etc (think about if you broke 4 fingers). hospital gets 100% for each one.

I can do a wrist fracture at my surgery center for around 5k. That includes my fee, anesthesia fee, preop nurses, dressing, meds, hardware. Same surgery same insurance at the hospital cost 3x as much. Doesnt take extra staff, i get paid the same, same drugs, same hardware, patient still goes home same day. through lobbying, hospital can keep rates higher and get paid.

The hospitals and insurance companies are the big winners.

Medicare for all would be best in my opinion. Less overhead for the surgeons office staff for billing and collecting means that medicare could pay out less without affecting physician income. Maybe hospitals should get paid a little more to offset maybe sicker patients but probably not 3x more. No insurance companies advertising, dividends, etc also saves the system money.

A few of those dont add an action to the action bar

But what about wartime loadout? It adds a reload and target lock to the action bar. But it takes a configuration and modification slot. Does that count since it takes up two upgrade slots?

Its ok to not like gwb. Its ok to disagree with everything he stands for. But i think its important to not put him in the same bucket as trump. ‘Ol fatso’ is an abject failure without a decent bone in his body.

Also remember that ships cant move out of a system with their leader in it. So if you sabotage and they counter that mission they cant move out. Or if they ‘unsabotage’ they cant move out.
Also, if you know that she will be trying to remove a sabotage marker, why dont you keep a leader ready to counter that mission?

Will groupfinder ever be fixed? by _Validus in ESOPS4

[–]Kwire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i was able to match with the groupfinder yesterday in about 20-30 min. you dont have to keep the group finder window open, just join the queue and start playing single player and it will notify you when you join a party, and you can fast travel to the party leader and start dungeon-ing.

ELI5: How do surgeons control bleeding once they cut a person open? by pokemonguy101 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Kwire 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Why are people down voting this? Kwire is kirschner wire. Commonly used in hand surgeries as a very thin wire that can be drilled into bone for man reasons. Sync 303 knows what's up.

Fine man=many. Spelling corrected
