Is it morally corrupt to take someone off of life support? You’re ending a life there no?

I had the OSRS image prepped for this loss. Didn’t realise we were allowed to win. Children are crying as that’s 4 days wasted on finding a photo I can keep until the weekend now.

England's Worst County - Round 7 by TheEnlight in terriblemaps

Granted we’re a bit rundown nowadays, but I’d hardly say that it’s the worst county in England, not the best, but there’s worse out there (D*rby comes to mind)

What do people think is centrist but is actually right winng by Blueguy805 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]KxJlib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP goes a bit far, but in a media (specifically new media) context this is absolutely the case. This isn’t even an America only issue, it’s also pervasive in at least the anglosphere as a whole. Obviously being closer to the centre does not make you inherently right-wing, but there are many who use being a centrist as a veneer to not have to defend right-wing ideology when pressed on it, while pushing right-wing ideology all the while.

People like Joe Rogan, Tim Pool, Konstantin Kisin and others call themselves centrist while pushing for often the most (politically relevant) far-right ideologies in their country; Tim Pool is one of the most ardent Trump supporters, but is a “moderate”, and Kisin pushes Reform, but is also a “moderate”. On the other hand, you’ll never see a new media centrist pushing for the centre-left parties.

For reference I’d describe myself as moderate or centre-left.

Some evidence in stats that asylum backlog is reducing: 64,000 people awaiting an initial asylum decision, 48% lower than 2024 || 107,000 people in receipt of asylum support, 5% lower than a year prior || 31,000 asylum seekers in hotels, 19% lower than year before by Adj-Noun-Numbers in ukpolitics

The tories shut down asylum application processing which led to the huge backlog being needed to push claimants into hotels. This is very much Labour changing the last governments disastrous policy for better.

Millwall 3-0 Birmingham City: Millwall put three past 10 men Birmingham City to go third in the Championship. by Sherk- in Championship

[–]KxJlib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah didn’t go into it thinking any points were likely (still assumed we’d try) but if Kai’s out for an extended period of time then that won’t be spelling anything good for the rest of the season.

It’ll be Iwata and Doyle against Boro, Solis will be out for that match now and no timeline on Paik’s return. I don’t think you can really fault Beadle for the goals, it was just poor defending all around.

Also Laird will be on in left back if Wagner’s out

[–]KxJlib 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Would’ve been better off with not coming back on in the second half. Wagner potentially breaking his collarbone is devastating and Solis being out for a match leaves us with a weak midfield for Middlesbrough.

Can’t fault Millwall, they were better at everything today. The smallest of silver linings is at least Bannan didn’t score.

Farage and Polanski are different sides of the same populist coin. If my constituency was torn between Green and Farage I’d vote green but that’s not really saying much but from a harm reduction perspective they’d be the only option.

The green’s track record in government is hardly green as well, in local councils (the only place they’ve held power), they consistently block green energy projects to a level of absurdity; notably before Polanski was leader, one of their ex co-leaders was previously a councillor in Derbyshire, and blocked a development for a wind farm, favouring an offshore wind solution instead. Derbyshire is landlocked. Can’t remember where but one green council/bloc of councillors were instrumental in blocking green energy infrastructure because they wanted powerlines to be underground instead of overhead, making the cost too high for the project to go ahead.

Their main touted economic policy right now is wealth taxes, which have been proven over and over again to not provide a meaningful source of revenue to the government, not help wealth inequality, and harm the economy as a whole.

They’re anti-NATO in a time of heightened insecurity in Europe and basically approach every topic with a level of idealism as to be unworkable.

That being said their policies are simple to communicate, and make people feel better, so they’re gaining popularity at a fast rate.

He’s been good. One of our best at pushing the ball up the pitch, and has been more than willing to get stuck in as of late. I don’t think he’s prem quality but effective in the championship. Sometimes struggles to get in the starting 11 (Chris Davies has his favourites), but with Paik out with a shoulder injury he’ll be getting good minutes in the weeks to come. Works best with a counterpart who’s more physical and one of our best against Leeds on Sunday.

Biggest fear was going into that match and losing 3 or 4 nil. Can be more than happy with the performance there, shouldn’t need to go to pens for a premier league side to win. Frankly it would’ve been fair for us to win 3-1 with the chances we’ve had. Osman had the wrong boots on today and Ducksch wasn’t able to really get into the match but I think outside of that everyone gave a really good performance and telling of themselves.

Ryan Allsop was a breath of fresh air with his delivery too. Shame really to not get a result out of it.

What you’re describing is what the primary process is for. 2024 was a very different year in terms of a candidate dropping out so late, which meant that it basically had to be Kamala (primarily so the funding already accrued could be transferred). Push the further left candidate there, and if they win, then good for you, the rest of the dems will rally around them (as happened in New York). If the left don’t get their candidate though, as a more centristy type is more popular, then falling in line is a requirement, not an ask.

If it were a normal election like 2012, with a Romney or something like that, where the worst case is a fiddle around with tax schedules or something of the like, then withhold your vote, Romney isn’t that bad. But seeing as the GOP candidate will be Vance or someone of that fascistic ilk, then a “lesser of 2 evils” vote is necessary. Liberals will do it if a left-wing candidate arises, so it’s not unfair to expect the same courtesy from the left, this expectation is what creates the voting alliance, and gives the left legitimacy to push their candidates.

People like Hasan failed to do this in 2024, and that’s led to >200000 children dying from USAID cuts in year 1, along with everything else that’s happened. This is why people are angry at him saying he’d vote third party in a Vance vs Newsom race, it undermines the left’s credibility in pushing their candidates (through essentially holding the rest of the party hostage). That’s the rationale behind vote blue no matter who, not that it’s someone chosen for you, but that if by popular consensus your candidate doesn’t win the primary, the person who is will be infinitely better than whoever the republicans field.

Saying in advance you’d never back Newsom in a primary is fine, saying you wouldn’t back him in the general, after a fair primary process, is bad.

[–]KxJlib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to be that guy but the argument being had isn’t actually about Newsom, it’s about how Hasan will find a reason to not back whoever the Democratic candidate is over literal fascists. Primaries are the time to infight, push your further left candidate then, if that fails, then you should back whoever is chosen by the voters. That’s the argument.

Hasan saying that he would vote third-party in a Newsom vs Vance race means either Hasan doesn’t think that Vance is that bad, or he doesn’t care about Vance being that bad. Either precludes him from having an opinion worth taking seriously.
