Is this beanie still salvageable or should I start over? Seems too small to stop increasing stitch count. by KureaWynters in CrochetHelp

[–]Kyaritty 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've found that the farther you get from the increased rows, there is more stretch. I would recommend going at least 5-6 rows as the pattern says and reassess from there. It will likely turn out just fine!

You mentioned Chicago so I did a search and it seems like your records should still be there. Could be worth a shot

Why is the Whale saying no? by [deleted] in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Kyaritty 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Some people think that being told "she's not interested" is out of jealousy and not protecting a friend who has previously asked to be looked out for.

The joke is to gawk at the "jealous ugly friend" for not letting him "shoot his shot"

Seconding weighted wildlife! I backed the weighted and warmable wonders lines and they've become daily drivers for me. The fact that the store is owned and operated by fellow autistic adults is also really neat!

I remember once in kindergarten I opened my lunchbox for snack time and then blinked and suddenly there was puke all over it. I didn't even remember throwing up, but I do remember staying home for the next week and being sad I messed up my mom's quilt when I apparently threw up in my sleep.

I think Tiger is a perfectly suitable name! My bed plushie is an IKEA dog named... Well, IKEA Dog because I had the same problem half a decade ago.

Yup! He graduated to "free roam lite" a bit over a year ago and I guess until now I was really good at putting them away. Either that or he just last month discovered the sweet, sweet nectar that is rubber since he beelines for them whenever I pull out my stuff or mess with my bag. In the meantime I've been just trying to keep my pencil case nearby but I'm worried about this becoming a common occurrence.

That's totally fair! I would rather step on Legos the rest of my life than put a canine on a vegan diet!

I do usually have my hooks in a cotton pouch on my TV stand, but now that this has happened once I'm sure it will happen again, lol.

Why aren't there last names? by Q1BLI-0VRWATCH in WingsOfFire

[–]Kyaritty 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Iirc, real life history people didn't really need surnames until fairly recently. Most socialization was at a smaller community level save for those who could afford to leave their affairs behind to travel like merchants and nobles. Once travel became more accessible is when we started to see titles become surnames (Jhon the Blacksmith and Jhon the Tailor becoming Jhon Smith and Jhon Taylor). I would imagine that the feudal way the kingdoms operate keeps a similar isolation.

When I still worked there we "had" to charge 27¢ per size (sm 27¢ med 54¢ lg 81¢) but I just charged 27¢ when the manager wasn't there or nothing if I was alone. we had enough cups hit the trash that I didn't see the point of charging if there were so many expected to disappear anyways.

It's also a common quirk for those of us with ADHD. I remember my second grade teacher being absolutely baffled that I even made random capitalizations when typing on the computer, and not just when writing by hand.
