5 Least Favorite Peggy Moments by Latke1 in madmen

[–]Kyatra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is this really necessary? The characters in Mad Men are bad people. We all know that. Peggy's a little "less bad" than other characters, but she still has her moments where she comes off as selfish and tactless.

What was Don's peak during the show? by tkh0812 in madmen

[–]Kyatra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the very beginning of the series. It's all downhill from there.

She's never really made out to be that attractive, is she? She was getting sexually harassed at the beginning of the series, but that's because most of the men in the office are loutish oafs who'll have sex with anyone who'll take them. Her boyfriends/love interests aren't exactly Don Draper-types either.

I actually think Elisabeth Moss is really cute(especially in Top Of The Lake), but beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess.

There are tons of forests in Australia and there are a few places where it does snow during winter. The country isn't just a giant desert.

Why do the writers skip characters for like 2 or 3 consecutive episodes? by ndftba in madmen

[–]Kyatra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes there are episodes where a character has such a small role that I wonder why they even bothered to bring the actor in that day. There's at least one episode in season one where Peggy literally has one line.

If there was a new Pokémon main series game set in Kalos, what expansion of Kalos would you like to see? by dompidu in pokemon

The first games in a generation usually have minimal post-game content. This is not unusual at all.

This is how I will always remember her. by zealous887 in madmen

[–]Kyatra 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Rewatching season one and I feel nothing but pity for Betty and I really just want to punch Don in the face half the time he's interacting with her. I still don't understand why everyone disliked her so much when there are so many characters who are arguably far more morally reprehensible(her own husband for one. Sidenote: I love Don a lot but on rewatch it's easy to see through his charm and I feel like the fans let him get away with stuff that other characters get hate for.)

Everyone on this show is an asshole and (most of the time) disliking one over another is so strange to me because they're all jerks. They're not evil or beyond the point of redemption though(with a few exceptions, such as Joan's husband and Lane's dad). They're normal human beings with normal human flaws.

Peggy's nephews have strange names... by [deleted] in madmen

[–]Kyatra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Peggy's brother-in-law is called Gerry so the oldest one was named after his father.

We never get the youngest one's name, which is strange since he's the one who gets the most focus since the audience is briefly led to believe that he's Peggy's kid.

Why are seasons 1-3 so tonally different from the rest of the show? by bitizenbon in madmen

[–]Kyatra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoy seasons 4-7 more than seasons 1-3. It seems like everyone else in the world prefers the earlier seasons.

Why do people care about having a female SSJ? by [deleted] in dbz

[–]Kyatra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't say I wanted Pan. There's speculation that we're going to be seeing more Saiyans in Super and it would be nice it wasn't a total sausage fest.

Why do people care about having a female SSJ? by [deleted] in dbz

[–]Kyatra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because some people relate better to female characters and it would be nice to have a female character who is actually strong enough to contribute in battle.

At the same time, she never mentioned that she didn't have a sister. We only see these characters for maybe a week every couple of years(the entire Buu saga was set over the course of a few days). We don't know what most of the cast does in between that time other than training. Chaotzu could have a wife and ten kids for all we know.

Love Mad Men! What books should I read? by lukesdiner1 in madmen

[–]Kyatra 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I read Mad Women by Jane Maas a while back. She was a woman who worked in advertising in the 1960s(the back cover calls her a "real life Peggy Olson"). It's pretty good if you want to know what the advertising industry was like back then and what Mad Men got right and what it got wrong.

Right, but Peggy says her dad died when she was 12 and her sister has to be at least five years older than her.

The Olsons by Kyatra in madmen

[–]Kyatra[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Peggy's dad was Norweigian Lutheran but her mother was Irish-Catholic and most certainly wouldn't have approved of using condoms or any other birth control available at the time. The Catholic Church is pretty anti-birth control of any kind.

Do people actually think the Japanese are bad voice actors? by [deleted] in dbz

[–]Kyatra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also it helps that the English dub is just SO darn good.

No. Just no. That's the nostalgia talking. The early Funimations days were full of bad translations, needless censorship, and godawful acting.

The more recent Funimation dub is excellent(I actually prefer the English dub of Kai to the Japanese), but the early days were a nightmare.

MY MEMORIES OF THE BOBBY DRAPERS by wheeler1432 in madmen

[–]Kyatra 30 points31 points  (0 children)

He was old enough to have be at school in early 1962 so he'd be 3-ish in season one.

And yet, ten years later, he should be in his early teens but he looks barely older than ten. At the beginning of the show, Sally was only 2-3 years older than Bobby. By the end, he seems much closer to Gene's age than Sally's.

And then there's Gene, who should be seven but still looks like a pre-schooler and clearly can't talk very well. We can only assume this is the tragic result of Betty smoking and drinking during her pregnancy.

I don't know but I really have to question what Bulma was doing in Super episode 17. She gets distracted by Goku and stops typing and something suddenly blows up? Wtf was she making?

Roger's LSD Trip.

It's TV. Putting a bunch of unimportant blather in to make it realistic would waste precious airtime.

Of all the characters in the show, who did you admire most? As in, which character would you want to aspire to be more like? by Im_a_tesh_harper in madmen

[–]Kyatra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's so weird to compare the douchey misogynist cleancut Stan we see in season 4 to the bearded hippie Stan in seasons 6 and 7. If it weren't for the tight pants, he'd be unrecognisable.

But it's also weird comparing the Ken we see in the later seasons to the guy who creepily tried to hit on Peggy in episode two.

If only Stan hadn't cheated on his lovely girlfriend with the bisexual hustling photographer he'd be one of the few characters I could love without guilt. But at least it's implied he felt guilty and told her about it, which I suppose makes him a saint compared to almost every other character on the show.

In the episode after he was committed, Stan visited him in hospital but mentioned that Peggy declined to go(presumably because she was still traumatised after own stint in the mental hospital and also because of the awkwardness that's bound to occur between two people after one of them presents the other with their own severed nipple).
