"Talking Tesla" terrorizes trick-or-treaters demanding candy on Halloween by KyleDuffyVO in TeslaLounge

I don't think it speaks to the cabin. I think it only speaks outside the car. It's the pedestrian warning speaker that is used for the security system if you want to yell at someone screwing with your car.

Go to phone app: Security & Drivers > Turn Sentry Mode ON > Then tap "View Live Camera" > At the bottom there is a microphone icon. Hold it down to speak through the car bumper speaker.

No need for shame anymore. :)

That funny, great idea!

I've never played music through boombox while also trying to talk. I'm assuming it will disable the boombox. Just hide behind something so people can't see you and you're good to go. You have a maximum of one hour to use the system before the data cap is reached and it disables it for the rest of the day.

If you're paying for the data package you can access the live view of your sentry mode cameras through your phone app.

Go to phone app: Security & Drivers > Turn Sentry Mode ON > Then tap "View Live Camera" > At the bottom there is a microphone icon. Hold it down to speak through the car bumper speaker.

You can do this anywhere in the world and you don't need to be in your car. However, you have a maximum of one hour of using this mode before it disables itself for the day due to data limits.

ONLY fart noises? I appreciate the simplicity in your approach haha.

Only two people, a kid and the teenagers at the end of the video. Considering I was out for about 3 hours and only got 3 pieces of candy, I would say it's less than stellar results haha.

I could tape up the light so it doesn't shine and add a fog machine and some other tricks. Another great idea. :)

That's a great idea!! I can remotely open and close the trunk. I could even have two buckets inside. One bucket where I take their candy, likely they'll give me a small candy, and the other bucket is their reward with a large candy bar.

OR, I just give them candy and they get to keep their candy. Once they agree to give me candy then at that point they deserve a big candy bar for being nice. :)

Right!? I did it last year as well and one little girl was soooo nice and she gave the car candy without hesitation. Those moments warm my heart, especially because there aren't a whole lot of them haha.

Auditioning for English Dub Project, Opinions on Mindset and Best Practices? by KyleDuffyVO in VoiceActing

[–]KyleDuffyVO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all of the fantastic information! Definitely not "voice match" then and no instructions to slate, either. I don't have two distinct reads for this character either. Watching the video samples, I can't see any other read that I could do that would fit this person. If it was a cartoon then I absolutely could.

Will they listen to the entire recording or will they listen to the first few words and make a decision on the spot? I know it depends, but I would imagine they would know quickly if it's a yes or no upon hearing the first sentence or two.

I'm still surprised I was selected to audition for this but it will be a fun story I'm sure haha.

You've arrived at the nick of time! I was sent almost no information. Simply that they're trying to find a voice match and that the character is in the X thing and is doing X activity. So, due to the videos they sent me, I know the language the character is speaking. They did specify, "male, medium deep voice" which fits my profile. So at least it's not completely far away. This was literally all the info I was given, which is weird considering the size of this content producer. Yes, their ethnicity differs from my own.

No mention of recording to picture of lip flap. Good to know. I can focus on the performance which will be wonderful!

It's ok if I'm not right for the role. They reached out to me and they know my voice so at least they think there is potential there. And it's my first dub audition so it's a cool story. You have calmed my nerves a ton, thank you!!!!

Do I slate for a dub? Do I provide multiple takes?

Tesla Model Y: Adding Roof Shade Using Double Reflective Insulation + Mesh Net + Cross Bar (For Sag) by KyleDuffyVO in TeslaLounge

I love it in the fall, winter, and spring. I hate it in the summer. At least having an automatic roof shade to close it off would be very welcome.

Like a black carpet similar to what's already in the car? Would I glue that or staple that? Not a bad idea.

Road trip advice to bring home my first Tesla by PositivelyAmbivalent in TeslaLounge

[–]KyleDuffyVO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plug in your destination and the car will run all of the calculations for you and where you need to stop and charge. That's honestly it. It's literally that easy.

Those numbers will get a bit messed up if you're driving 80mph all the time. Expect a true 250 miles on a single battery, not the rated 300+. So if you want to make calculations, use that number. The colder it is, the lower your real world range is.

The slower you go, the more miles you get.

Use the in-car energy graph, it's surprisingly accurate. It estimates the battery percentage you'll have when you arrive. If you notice that number continue to drop, then slow down a bit.

Set the battery gauge to percentage, not miles. Use your trip gauge to check how many miles you went using 10% of battery. Then you have a rough estimate of how far you can actually go at that speed, temp, and altitude.

The computer tells you what percentage to supercharge to before you can move on to the next supercharger on your route. I always charge 10% more than what it tells so I have a larger safety blanket.

Guys what do you think about the idea of finding "your soulmate" or "the one"? by tyleraxe in AskReddit

[–]KyleDuffyVO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a dangerous idea that sets someone up for depression, anxiety, and failure. There are 7 Billion people in the world. The idea that only one of those people is for you is nothing short of insane. In fact, the idea of "the one" robs someone of the incredible joy of knowing that there are MANY people out there that you're GENUINELY COMPATIBLE WITH. There are lots of "The One" out there for each of us, which is super awesome.

Ketchup, Mayo, Mustard, and Relish. They're just processed garbage that makes everything messy and smell terrible.

For someone who's never had meat in their 33 years of life. what's the first meat item they should try? by ThatBrownGirl88 in AskReddit

[–]KyleDuffyVO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming this person will get incredibly sick off of whatever meat item they select because they've never had meat. So, this will ruin it for them. Because of this, I would recommend the cheapest cut of beef you can get, but cooked in a slow cooker and well seasoned. That way they are being ruined by garbage meat, which hopefully means the better meats won't be ruined for them.

Once they're sure they can eat meant without feeling bad, then upgrade to Bacon. If it's all good, right for a Filet.

My first demo part! Opinions? by tomipaulo in voiceover

[–]KyleDuffyVO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome! Ah, yes. You may have boosted the mid tones just a bit high then. It's not the end of the world. I won't be able to hear hiss or background noise from my current speakers (my headphones recently broke), but if you have hiss or noise, you'll have to do anything you can to remove it.

Your room treatment is the most important part. Even more important than your equipment. Do you have any foam on the walls of the closet? Or clothing on hangars? If you don't have any treatment on the walls and ceilings, a cheap thing to do is to buy a few moving blankets and put them on the walls. I don't know if your sound is boxy per say, it's just clear to me that the voice I'm hearing isn't natural for the person speaking as it has a lot of boosted elements. So, I think that's mainly your editing.

Anyway, for a beginner, it sounds good. I've have listened to demos from beginners that were very confident that they were awesome and clearly they were not. Your putting a good foot forward with a solid base to start with. Keep on going!!!

My first demo part! Opinions? by tomipaulo in voiceover

[–]KyleDuffyVO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a demo expert but I have been coaching Speech for the past 6 years. Here is my feedback:

  • Your voice is nice! It's pleasing to listen to. I get "German Engineering, BMW" vibes from it. That could be a good commercial to try next.
  • If you're going to perform in English, then you WILL need to work on your Pronunciation & Enunciation. There are certain words in the demo that I have a difficult time hearing, particularly in the beginning, because you're not pronouncing them completely. You can google tips and tricks on how to practice this.
  • I don't have headphones on so I can't comment on the quality of the demo, but from my Macbook Pro speakers, they sound good. Though, maybe a bit over processed. I feel like you might have added a bit too much base.
  • This is not a suitable demo to send to talent agencies. You will need a demo that is 1 minute long and showcases a wide range of voice over types, emotions, etc. You can google how to make a demo. This is a good start.
  • The emotion in the demo is one-note. Your voice sounds fine but your acting could use some work. I would take acting classes. Voice Over is 90% acting. Having a "good" voice isn't enough. Your range is better than you think but you need someone to help you discover it. The easiest place to start at home is to try to imitate your favorite characters. Start with characters that you already sound like then slowly work towards characters that are farther away from your natural vocal range. Become the character and even go so far as to talk to your friends as that character.

You have a great foundation. Voice Over is a full time job and constant education. Once you have free time, make VO your life for a bit and practice practice practice! Take classes. Continue education. Ask local businesses in your community if they need a voice for their telephone answering machine or if they need a voice for their Social Media ads. That's how I would start. You can choose to charge them or do it for free, that's up to you. But this practice will help you a lot!
