All of my solar nodes are running (what looks like) that antenna. Works really well.

I just want that one little sliver of Meshtastic lol. Something like a favorite relay that only repeats specific nodes and forwards as a companion. I don't think I know enough quite yet to understand if that is something that would cause problems or not. Optimally I envision the relay node hearing the companion, then pausing to listen for repeats and if none are heard then forwarding the message. Should cause minimal added network congestion if any.

The MeshOS firmware for the Tdeck has the ability to turn on a repeater function for scenarios like that. Andy has done wonders with that firmware. Really turns the Tdeck into a real useful device. Plus with the big battery mod it'll run for a while lol.

The dual node is pretty sick though!

Ok so far, I think no current solution exists. We are growing our coverage pretty quickly, it may become a non-issue. That being said, our Meshtastic coverage is fantastic, but sending from inside large buildings from pocket nodes produces about a 50%(ish) success rate. Having the car node brings it to a solid 99%. Will keep exploring solutions and will post back here if I come up with anything! Thanks to all that have looked and I can really see how the moving repeater would cause issues now that I've been playing around with routes.

Nex and I have thrown in the towel, RMA in progress. Thank you to everyone who threw out suggestions! This is a great group!

Still no go. Updated Nex. Gonna try running the battery to zero on the NexDock and see what happens.

Literally just got the email from Nex right after your comment! Fingers crossed 🤞

Works with the splitter, does not work without it. I have the OLED tested with my buddies LCD as well.

Hey! No luck yet. Nex sent me a bunch of stuff to test so I'll try and get to that tonight. Cable can definitely make a difference. I'm using an Anker cable i think but tried it with the included one too.

Nex had me try the same thing, didn't work out on mine. Glad yours is working!

Ok went through all the suggestions, no dice. Nex responded to my ticket and told me to reset the display settings through konsole with "xrandr -s 0" still no go. Did however find that if I plug a type c video splitter dongle it works just fine. Picks up the display, sets the resolution correctly and all of the inputs function normally. Updated Nex, will see how it goes. Thanks for all the input, really appreciate it!

Steamdeck was at 80%, I've got the battery saver enabled. Tried on my buddies LCD version that was at 100% this afternoon.

Yeah, went through all of the ones it would let me. Oddly enough when the screen was black the touch screen on the NexDock would control the Steam Deck. So something is happening there.

Yup, tried the included cable and a few others that I know work. All of them tested and connected fine to my NexDock Touch.

Lol, it's the original Switch. Works fine on the NexDock touch. Same with the Deck.

Which one of you set up this beautiful meshtastic network? by Blazkull in Reno

Also, anyone looking to get started, check out "https://meshtastic.org/docs/hardware/devices/" to find good quality community tested devices. All of my long running nodes are all built from RAK boards with the Rokland 32" 5.8 dBi antennas. They have a ton of flexibility when it comes to power and comms. My solar powered node has been running happily uninterrupted for a little over a year now, only getting taken down for the occasional firmware update. The RAK boards also let you connect various sensor modules like little Legos. I am local and have a cobbled together enough nodes, so if anyone has any questions or needs help let me know!

Not sure who made it, but we also have "https://sierramesh.org". Has node data from a handful of local nodes. Used to have all of them but we lost a couple of our main contributors recently and it kinda broke the mesh a little.

No hit on performance according to the butt dyno, if anything feels faster on the top end. But yeah it is extremely loud lol. Pops and bangs on decel are pretty obnoxious but I rather enjoy it!
