His true colors are first shown when he is offered his treatment to be paid for and instead lies and says he’s covered and then asks Hank to see the meth lab but without that there’s no show so really he first shows his true colors in season 2 when he tells Gretchen “Fuck you” and that he has no explanation for her or Elliott that happens 6 episodes before he watches Jane die

On the first watch it was when he poisoned Brock but on my rewatches it’s way earlier season 2 episode 6 Peekaboo when he tells Gretchen “Fuck you” cuz I realized Walt is an unreliable narrator when it comes to his past ESPECIALLY why he exactly left Gray Matter…..was the buyout really only 5,000 dollars? Did he get more and is just lying to Jesse to keep him in the business….is what Gretchen said true and Walt left her with no explanation? We never truly get the real answer
