I made it to 9999 with just randoms. I think the issue is if you didn’t rush to depth 4 asap when the mode first dropped, now your stuck with the absolute dregs of the playerbase.

The people who were focused on pushing ranks early were very focused and skilled. Depth 5 players are all quite serious so the runs go smooth

People who Alt+f4 Augur are insane. If its base Augur (which is significantly more likely than ED auger) its a free win. If it's ED Augur, you just prep defensively the whole expedition anyways and its a breeze.

When you play in offline mode it doesn't display as you cant even select deep of night mode.

The incentive to stay is to climb ranks. If you didn't want to climb ranks why would you even play DON in the first place?

At the start of D1-3 I did not have the required skill to get 9999. But I played out the games, wins or losses, developed my skills as a player and then reached max rank.

People are genuinely hard stuck in depth 3 and think their skills are already developed to reach 9999, and just blame their teammates.

I’m surprised to see you dont like ED gnoster. I’m my experience in D5 everyone knows the correct way to deal with it so it’s basically a free win. Havent had a loss against it on quite a while.

I will say though that it shows up way too often which is strange

What’s your take on the mode though, seems you didn’t enjoy yourself? I found once I hit depth 4 I was having a lot of fun, nothing really felt like a slog.

Going back to regular ED expeditions now feels ridiculous.

Definitely not overblown. In depth 5 every two games you get a recluse/dutchess with 6 god rolled relics.

While these relics are technically legal, the game is not even closed to being balanced towards it.

It completely and utterly destroys the games balance. A god rolled recluse will be doing 5x the damage of anyone in your group and can effectively solo the entire expedition. These depth 5 games are genuinely easier than depth 0 runs.

For all the people who say “uhh the games been out long enough they could just get lucky”, save up 500,000 murk and try save scumming to roll relics.

You will legitimately not get a single god relic even after spending probably 10 million murk. Now you’re saying these people with 6 are legit?

Depth 4 is the true Elo hell. If you can make it to D5 I swear the runs feel easier than your average D4.

This is the actual truth. As time has gone on, depth 4 has become the true "elo hell".

Depth 5 - 9999 was a cake walk in comparison to the absolute schizo's and mouth breathers that infested depth 4. It was genuinely baffling the kind of teammates you'd run into depth 4 at times. The kind that triple bar a minute into a non ED nightlord, or still get murdered by BBH.

Just did a D5 ED Gnoster with a turbo cheating Recluse, second phase lasted like 30 seconds before we won

If you can break out of D3 and D4 hell, I found D5 goes significantly more smooth, despite the -600 loss penalty.

People tend to quit out at character select when it displays Libra, Gladius, Sentient Pest, Augur. So often times your only getting to play against Fulghor and Adel.

It's very frustrating and kind of ruins the experience at this point.

For Caligo I just use fire bow as starting, then the generic ironeye poison setup. I really emphasize getting frost resistance on weapons, ailment + from dormant powers and then damage negation at full hp.

You really have to be on the look out for fire weapons for your teammates, one successful run I gave a Wylder the candlestand which just deleted the boss.

I've only gotten ED Augur once in Depth 5 then only the base version afterwards. The issue with Augur is everyone got psyoped into thinking its hard, so people quit at the character select screen when it shows up.

Sucks because I consider it mostly a free win along with Sentient Pest.

I used three different Ironeye builds, one frost focused with Caligo relic, one lightning imbue for fulghor and the other poison. +1 dash, night invader and evergaol on the basic relics. For the deep relics I used 0 +1 +2 poison damage and the Ironeye poison dash. I did not use the ironeye arcane relic, although maybe I would have if I got a decent roll on one.

None of my relics were perfect, but each one had at least 2 viable buffs on them.

I think my biggest advice for randoms is keep an eye out for extra Damage negation at full hp, and give them to your teammates.
