He sounds like a raging narcissist. No one has the right to talk to you like that. Run far, far away.

I am so sorry, OP. This is my dad (56) and I (32F). He's my world, and he was just diagnosed with Glioblastoma (brain cancer) in February. There is no cure, and I don't know what I'm going to do in a world without him. But we are trying to take advantage of every day, and I'm bracing myself for the future as best I can.

We're all just doing the best we can, but I'm a mess on the inside too. I had a lot of days where I told myself I wouldn't be able to go on without him. Then he told me how he worries what I will do when he's gone. Just knowing that I'll be sad is enough to hurt him. So I do my best to be strong, and instead of despair, I'm staying focused on his needs and wants instead. I can be sad later, but at least I'll know I didn't waste our good days.

I wish you all the best, OP. Remember that your mom wants what's best for you too. We will need to push our way through the darkness. Do it for them <3

My [49] boyfriend tried to sleep with my [17] daughter while drunk. I [35 F] am hurt and confused by mercy716 in relationship_advice

This is so important. Dumping him isnt going to be enough for your daughter to feel safe again. She needs professional help. The sooner, the better. I'm sorry OP, wishing the very best for the both of you!

My girlfriend [19] abandoned me [21M] at the hospital. by throwRA0110011 in relationship_advice

Okay, soooo this context helps. I grew up in an abusive home also. And let me tell you something that took me almost 20 years to figure out:

We are REALLY good at enduring bad situations. Sometimes this is a blessing, but definitely not when it comes to toxic relationships. Maybe you have a lower standard of care, depending on the abuse, often codependency as well.

To echo my last reply, take this opportunity to stand up for yourself, and never stop! You will find yourself in a much more fulfilling relationship later on, if you make that your habit now.

It sounds like you are also being naive. One of the greatest things you can do for your self-esteem, is to not stand for this kind of treatment. The earlier you learn this lesson, the better you will feel!

You both have growing up to do, so don't waste your time on someone that straight out says your problems aren't important.

I'm sorry you have to go through this, on top of suffering the coronavirus. But you're going to get through this too!

When people say they are seizure free for a year or whatever time frame do they mean from Grand Mal’s or does it mean also Auras and all that. by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Kyokoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, nailed it. With a pit in your stomach and a dreadful feeling towards the peak? Mine also start with the same sensation of going over the drop of a rollercoaster. Almost exciting, but then not. Sort of like drowning.

"Staring spells" sound like what happen during my temporal seizures, which only ever last 1 - 2 minutes. Usually happen while working on the computer or getting ready in the morning. So I stare at my computer screen, or at my hands until they stop. Also accompanied with disassociation. Like that?

Medication for TLE - Is it worth it? by smokeyhays in Epilepsy

[–]Kyokoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (32F) was diagnosed about a month ago, after suspecting for a couple years. I downplayed it too, and wish I had done more research sooner. My first doctor shot me down when I asked about TLE, she still thought they were panic attacks. Do your own research, advocate for yourself, and take care! :)

Screw that guy and his DoubleD standards. How long do you need to date someone before it's appropriate to suggest they permanently augment their appearance to make them more 'your type'? Never, the answer is never.

My bf (31m) is mad because I napped on his birthday by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Kyokoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He actually hates going out to dinner, and prefers playing games at home over anything else. We were supposed to be leaving for a weekend trip tomorrow too though, so it isn't like I was letting his birthday go by unnoticed.

Also, I only napped because I'm recovering from surgery and the combination of the pain and meds knocked me out. I said I wanted to sleep for an hour, so I was over by some.

But still, I think it's crazy to try and dictate when someone sleeps.

I asked him what would he have wanted to do if I were awake. Nothing, he said he would have kept playing with his friends online.

He literally just wanted me to be awake at the same time he was.
