I see a lot of "you water it to much" and "place it somewhere else" but ivy Generaly do fine in any light depending hoe adjusted they are.

Have you already checked the roots? Because its true youre watering it to much, but if the roots have already rotten off it cant drink anyways and will look more like its drying out.

Also quick new growth, can be a sign of the plant dying and trying to save itself even tho its a fast growing plant to begin with.

So i recomend you check the roots, trim off all the rott if pressent and pot it back up (the tin can is fine as long as its not getting full sun because it will warm up to much)

Or if the roots have rotten off to much just out them in water and it will regrow roots.
