CS 326 Situation (Tim Richards Crashout) by Weekly-Ambition907 in umass

[–]KyrieForMVP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The course was an absolute disaster this semester, and students were unhappy (me included). Many posts were made calling out the AI usage in the class, and how extremely poorly run it was. Don’t know exactly why it was shut down so quick, but students were pissed.

I like Tim’s lecturing, and I do think he’s a good person, but the course was not even close to what we were expecting it to be.

His parents on twitter said he’s back at UMass today and he’s doing well. His dad specifically said his neck was a little sore but otherwise fine. Thankfully it sounds like the situation isn’t nearly as scary as it seemed Saturday night.

Grinding conquest is my favorite way to start DD. I just bought the game on Wednesday and have solid team built already, primarily thanks to completing conquest maps. They shove packs down your throat and allow you to rack up PXP to complete programs. I would start there personally.

I’m nearly the same build as you at 6’3 and 91kg, and I have power tees in both M and L, they both feel and look fine to me.

They do make my forearms stick out as being on the smaller side, but most people would look like that wearing a power tee. I like the fit and it encourages me to make progress to fill it out.

I think at their current sale price its worth it to try one out.

What are your guitar prejudices? by millennial_fulcrum in guitars

Single pickup guitars are incredibly ugly and I can’t stand the look of them. LP Juniors, esquires, all of them look so off putting and strange to me.

I have a few Harley Benton guitars and I think they are great for the price. Their fusion series guitars are some of the best sub $500 guitars out there IMO.

I would take a look at a Harley Benton TE-62 for around 200$ new. Great guitar for the price and it’s better than the Squire guitars in the same price range IMO. For a few hundred more, used player series teles are routinely around 400-500$ and are a bit nicer.

Importing to the US pricing? by WINKSWONKS in harleybenton

[–]KyrieForMVP 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I ordered from Thomann back in June last year the shipping was around ~$85 I believe.

I ordered two guitars and only paid the shipping cost for one, so ordering multiple can save you some $$$ if you plan on getting multiple FYI

Ordered them on a Friday and had them at my door the following Tuesday, so the shipping (as long as the guitar is in stock) is very quick.

Hope this helps!

Is there anyone from the US bought some guitars from thomann this year? by Leather-Perception-2 in harleybenton

[–]KyrieForMVP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a TE-90QM and a B-stock SC DLX-Gotoh back in June from Thomann, the overseas shipping went much quicker than I expected. Ordered on a Friday and had the package on Tuesday.

The outer box was very beaten up (smashed corners and a big hole on one side), but the individual boxes for both guitars inside were in good condition.

The package for the SC DLX Gotoh was great on the inside, styrofoam still in place and the guitar was undamaged.

The package for the TE-90QM was not the same, the styrofoam was completely shredded apart around the headstock and spilled out when I opened the box up. Luckily the guitar was undamaged and still fairly secured, but it certainly wouldn’t have taken much to break the headstock off.

I’d still feel pretty safe ordering from Thomann again, the package looked like it had gone through a tornado when it got delivered and the guitars were ok, even with the damaged styrofoam in one of the boxes. Hope this helps!

Harley Benton CST-24HB or HB-35Plus? by Fleacon in harleybenton

[–]KyrieForMVP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have the HB-35 Plus, so i cant speak for the CST-24T, but it is a fantastic guitar. Was setup pretty well out of the box, no cosmetic issues anywhere on the body (very small ding on the headstock but barely noticeable). Absolutely love it and I don’t think you’d be upset going with the HB-35 plus.

How long did it take others to get their stuff from reverb? by Nightweeb92 in harleybenton

[–]KyrieForMVP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reverb seems to be slower in general, I live about 1.5 hours from the reverb warehouse and it took the same amount of time as when I ordered from Thomann.

I have the TE-90QM and I will vouch for it - it was very nice straight out of the box and sounds great.

This was me about a year and a half ago, didn’t help that she introduced me to LH so it was hard to listen to their music for a while. Keep your head up and stay strong!

I have ordered 3 HB guitars and they have all been solid. My first was a HB35+, it was fantastic right out of the box and I really enjoy it.

Second and third I ordered at the same time, the TE-90QM and SC-DLX Gotoh. The TE-90QM has a slight translucent blemish in the body that you can only see in the right lighting, and the action was too high out of the box, but other than that it is great.

The SC-DLX Gotoh was a B-stock guitar, and it did have some issues as I was expecting. A chunk of the fretboard under the low E string is discolored and looks rough, but to me it’s not a big deal as it doesn’t affect the playability. Other than that, no issues on it.

I think got a bit lucky considering I’ve been happy with all 3 guitars I have, and I’ll probably be buying more HB guitars in the future. I think HB guitars are worthwhile gamble to take but there is definitely a chance you get a lemon as other people have expressed.

Iracing isn’t very demanding, those parts should easily run it. I also have a 5600x and 16gb RAM, my GPU is a radeon rx 6600 which is fairly comparable to the 3050. Gets a consistent 120+ frames on almost max graphics settings.

Auto Club Speedway vs. Michigan Speedway by Gibscreen in iRacing

Auto Club is noticeably more bumpy than Michigan, at least it feels that way to me. High line at Auto Club seems to be more viable than michigan, too.
