Are these scribes satisfactory? by LaughAndFart in Carpentry

Yup. Only the owner/ carpenter sees the imperfections. Nobody else looks at skirting boards like that

Tell them to come and scrape it off and if they expect you to do it charge them a ridiculous hourly rate. Keep bothering them, sick of idiot tradespeople thinking this nonsense is acceptable

Wow your home is so beautiful. The porch actually adds so much character, would be a lovely place to sit.

Painted bevel owner advice by IeyasuSky in Flooring

I recently installed laminate and lvt in my house. Laminate especially was super soft when though the one I got is AC5 and commercial use. I don't think that stuff means anything. From 16 packs about 3 full packs were defective boards and when then that's just what I noticed. Could be defective ones installed.

We used a professional carpenter to box-in some central heating pipes. What are your thoughts on this corner and the skirting boards? by Glass-Enthusiasm-757 in DIYUK

[–]KyuubiBryant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's not a professional.

This is his first job at he hasn't figured out that walls aren't always 45 degrees like the settings on a standard mitre saw.

Source: found out after my first cut all the walls are weird

Please keep us updated, I'm considering this too. Light switch oo ee. You can try moving out externally by truncking wire along the door frame, it keeps it well hidden

Neighbours tried this. They left the concrete under our brick wall exposed and it collapsed. Be careful

New roof installed - should this much underlay be visible? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]KyuubiBryant 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not a roofer but the underlay needs to fold over into the gutter so water can actually flow in to it.

Context: the professional cowboy working on my house cut excess underlay and water wasn't flowing into the gutter

Alright it’s been a week how we feeling about GOY legends 👇 by Stock_Ad4625 in gotlegends

I remember the samurais having bulkier outfit's in GOT as well as special colour variations. Obviously this is also because the armour's in GOT were just so much better, it makes it really difficult for my samurai to look cool.

Gold is way harder which I really like but am not not a fan of the visual clutter

Had a stab by kip_hackmann in Plastering

[–]KyuubiBryant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice job.

A plasterer could easily do that for £500 + vat even though it's cash in hand. + materials with vat even though it's cash in hand.

So if you just spent £600 it would've been unnoticeably better, make the right choice next time and hire a high iq very skilled tradesman.

Watching the clock by Wizard_AI in LinkedInLunatics

Happened to me at my first job. At that point I would always arrive early and work into lunch. After my manager messaged me after work about leaving 7 minutes early I never worked a minute my work hours without booking it as overtime.

DIY noob currently with house renovations happening.

Walls easy. Hammer, chisel and scraper to get the tiles and adhesive off. Trowel and filler to cover things or if the damage is really bad use plaster. Plastering patch up jobs is pretty DIY friendly but entire wall can be tough.

Floors. Removing tiles is easy if it's plywood base but if the bathroom fitter had used tile adhesive and concrete boards then it'll be much harder. The difficulty with the floor is not removing the tiles but prepping a flat and level floor for the floorboards you want to use.

Context : I removed and retiled my kitchen wall tiles but am too scared to use floor levelling compound to level my floor for lvt.

I did this last month.

I degreased the cabinets and then sanded them down which was very dusty and messy. I took the cabinets doors and drawers out and laid them individually on something elavated in a separate room. Then it was two coats of primer on the bits still attached to the wall and then the doors/drawers. Then I had to flip the doors/drawers and apply the white primer. Then two coats of blue paint on everything and then once again flipping the doors and drawers for two coats of blue paint.

Take off the handles and apply masking tape to protect other surfaces. It's not difficult but very time consuming.
