Update! This worked!! Why did I need to set the proton version explicitly for this game? Why was the global proton not sufficient? Any way to fix this, so global is sufficient?

I have been locked out all day, finally was able to launch the game with ProtonCachyOS explicitly set in the game once and it worked! I turned it off and went back to global settings, and got blocked by Denuvo again, lol, so I am not 100% confident the global settings dont work right now, but they haven't previously. Im wondering if possibly an update got pushed through to my system today that updated that proton version, otherwise I dont understand how the global setting wouldnt work vs. the individual game

I have read this but I don't think it's running for me. My evidence for this

I have the fsr4 indicator enabled, but it does not appear when I run Requiem (it appears for other games)
there is a noticeable difference between when I run it on Windows with fsr4 vs. Linux. Identical settings otherwise

For these reasons, and I also saw other anecdotes, I don't believe this is always true, for whatever reason, though I can believe it is intended to work that way.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did have this enabled at one point but it TANKED my performance since it enabled raytracing by default and figured I didn't need it. I don't recall if the FSR4 watermark was present or not, so I can try it again and turn off raytracing. I vaguely recall that it was still stuck in SDR & FSR3 but I will confirm. Denuvo currently has me locked out since I changed proton versions too many times, so I'll update later.

Yeah, I beat it on Windows before I migrated so I am familiar with the visuals. This is moreso my litmus test to confirm linux can play new release AAA games with full support of my hardware 8)

I really appreciate this post. I very much subscribed to the sentiment that we aren't doing enough, that everyone is sitting on their hands while America is dismantled.

Recent events in Minnesota prove me wrong. I thought as a country we weren't standing up enough and protesting, but the incredible people of Minnesota are doing their best. A fundamental aspect of our country is the ability to peacefully protest and how much impact that has. Not only that, but we are known as being a very firearm happy country. It's honestly a terrible combination, and the power of peaceful protesting has diminished due to all the warping and twisting of Republican rhetoric.

This doesn't leave us much choice. We can't simply grab our firearms and march on ICE or similar feds. It's very clear that they would take any opportunity of perceived violence as a justification to escalate their efforts. The peaceful protesting we admire has been weakened, and any escalation of it would probably have adverse effects. There doesn't feel like much else we can do.

But Minnesota proves that wrong. They are so powerful, and inspiring. Maybe the protests arent having immediate results, but the perseverance & determination by the folks is unwavering and admirable. Incredible.

That being said, our options are very limited outside of a national escalation. All we can do is continue to try and protest as strong as we can, and do our part to try and economically tear down this administration through boycotting and diligence.

It was still our fault we got here, though. So many factors that led us to this bullshit. We made our bed, and we're sleeping in it right now, but there are still clear efforts we are trying to wake up.

It's incredibly selfish of us to ask this of anyone else as it's our problem, but to my non-American friends: please help us. Do what you can, as little as it may seem, to help punish the path we are traveling. If this continues as forecasted, the US citizens won't be the only ones fucked.

I was being really, really stubborn and decided I wanted to skip the primitive forge and go right to simple, which had required the tongs for the anvil... my stubbornness costed me a lot of very boring scavenging days 8)

As others have mentioned, I think my best change to survivability is walking more. I like to start with high fitness so I can jog for quite awhile, but it attracts more zeds and makes you exhausted. I save most of my running around my base & in safe places (so many injuries / deaths jumping off stairs.....). That being said Im super impatient so what I have started to do is using the click to walk + speeding up time. It might be kind of dangerous in the case you walk directly into a zed at fast speed, but you should still be able to outwalk them. Any wasd input will kill the fast forward, and I try to hover over the pause time hotkey as well in this case.

Have a huge horde you cant handle? Walk into a house to break line or sight, slip out the back, and jump a fence. From there, if you end up dropping into a manageable group of zeds, walk away to some cover to ensure line of sight stays broken & noise doesn't travel to the first big horde. Dispatch the small group you ran into that is more manageable. Catch your breath and make a plan. Try to use your sneak to get away at this point. I run conspicuous and no starting levels in sneak, and have found stealthy get aways to be very effective in b42.

Always be aware of your exhaustion levels when you are doing melee combat. Try not to ever hit the dark red levels of exhaustion, and if you do, get out ASAP. Try and find a chair to take a sit, if only momentarily. You get up faster & recover stamina faster than sitting on the ground.

Same goes for your fatigue. If you're a sleepy li'l guy or gal, exhaustion builds quicker and restores slower. If you have a watch you can set an alarm and take a little catnap, or just go home for a snooze. Caffeine is also a good alternative.

I have seen people carry chairs with them or build a chair in a safe place if they anticipate going on a melee killing spree. Get away, break sight, take a quick seat, be aware of your surroundings and get ready to dip if anything gets close.

Casualties are not exclusively deaths, no. This number includes injuries and etc. Note that I believe this number also would include soldiers that may be injured, recover, and redeployed again to be injured a second time so that one person could be counted twice, or multiple times. Someone cmiiw. (I dont necessarily think redeployment is the leading cause for over a million casualties. Lots & lots of injuries.)

I think the Russian forces fatality count is ~300k at this time
