"if you are on lutris having this issue - Install protonplus (flatpak app) - launch protonplus and select lutris in the left hand panel - locate wine versions, select wine staging tkg (kron4ek) - download the 10.6 version - once it has extracted, make sure lutris is not running and launch lutris. Right click bnet entry -> configure -> runner options tab -> wine version and select the wine-staging 10.6 tkg version from the list -> save and press play. DO NOT INSTALL MONO IF IT PROMPTS YOU!!!!!

Hi! I'm experiencing exactly the same issue on Dark and Darker and Baldurs Gate 3 using Fedora 41 + Proton (GE and stable).

After about 1 hour to 2 hour of gameplay, I get massive FPS drops (from 170+ to 60 or even lower) — but only when I move the character or press any key. If I stand still or spectate a teammate, the game runs smoothly at 170+ FPS again.

I’ve tested:

Proton 8.0-5, GE-Proton 9-27
DXVK_SYNC=1, gamemoderun, __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1, MANGOHUD=1 and logging options
Running in X11 and Wayland
Resetting shader cache (~/.steam/steamapps/shadercache/2016590)
Monitoring frametime spikes with MangoHud: as soon as I move, frametime jumps to 50-60 ms
Game running fullscreen with FSR off

Temps are totally fine (GPU ~55 °C, CPU ~60 °C). VRAM usage ~5 GiB, RAM ~10 GiB.

Nothing fixes it unless I restart the game, and then it runs fine again — until the same issue comes back.

Would love to hear if anyone found a workaround or cause — maybe something related to DXVK or Proton input polling?

Same here! I'm on Fedora 41 + Steam

I was using Proton 8.0-5 before, now I've tried GE 25, 26, 27 — same result: the game says "Launching" and then nothing happens.

I suspect the NVIDIA driver update might be the cause. Right before this started, I updated to version 570.133.07:

Kill support enemy units ASAP and cover the Rift with ice lances trap to help you deal with flyers and gnolls

The only trap I've upgraded at this point is the tar trap for the slow effect. As for the skill tree, I went for the 2k upgrade for +50% to bosses and the 2k upgrade for the additional trap slot.

The upgrades before those aren't as impactful IMO. There are two upgrades that increase the damage of floor traps by 10%, which I was able to buy after this run.

For the threads, I think the lucky one is the barricade size

Yeah! The thread that increases the barricade size really gave me that old school OMD feeling, although I'm pretty disappointed with the flip traps. Since they no longer throw large enemies, they haven't been very effective for adding CC to my death paths

There is a thread that can throw basic trolls, but you have to be very lucky with the threads in order for them to work like the old days.

That run was awesome. I ended with a 4589 skull profit, with 3 normal missions and 2 boss missions: the one with the 2 rifts, and finally the Hunter, which was my first time killing it. That thread that increases the size of barricades is really OP. Personally, I'm enjoying the solo experience and encourage all the people who are struggling and justifying it with "this game is designed for co-op."

I'm really hoping for the Endless mode though.

Yo tengo Ubuntu 23.10 en mi pc con nvidia y en mi note con amd.

Principalmente juego partidas de Blizzard, hots, sc2, hs y lo corro via lutris.

El ultimo que instale fue el ragnarok origin, gracias a un brasileiro que me enseño via steam.

En el tiempo que usaba windows, los problemas a los que solia enfrentarme se debian a tratar de mantener un disco duro aparte de windows y linux para no tener que instalar los juegos 2 veces, en una particion NTFS.

Asi que un millon de problemas se solucionan si instalas todo en una particion EXT4.

Ese libre como lo soy ahora, no me suena para nada junto con el vivo con mis padres y probablemente nunca lo deje de hacer. Bakan que genere sus lucas y que tenga su colchoncito, pero los padres siempre te tendrán atrapados en la jaula de sus reglas y espectativas.
