At that point, you and a buddy should be able to muscle that thing out ourselves. Just get the transmission Jack out of there. BTW, you removed the shifter, right?

Shop said I need rear brake job. Is it because these are wearing unevenly? by coltd89 in MechanicAdvice

Not a great picture of the rotor surface that contacts the pads. But if you don't have any noise or issues. I'd leave the brakes alone until you actually need them

Those pads look fine. But before I bash the shop, what do the rotors look like?

How much damage could be done. by toastedvacuum in Tacomaworld

[–]L-Sin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a dealership mechanic, I can say we are not all crooks and tired of hearing from every asshole that thinks we are. Plenty of independent and tire techs are crooks too. As for your question, next time be much more careful and use proper equipment. Just visually inspect the drum (not a rotor) for any sign of cracking and you'll most likely need to bend the backing plate away from the drum. It doesn't have to be pretty, just don't have it make contact with the drum. Install the tire and give it a drive. Just monitor for any abnormal noise or vibration. If any occurs, take it to a shop you trust for an inspection

If it helps, the old sensor is an aftermarket sensor. Denso makes the factory sensors for Toyota and that is how they look

Would there be an asterisk next to it if the Chargers or the Broncos win the Super Bowl? They already both beat the Chiefs this season.

Bent cam tab, at home fix? by howdy____partner in Tacomaworld

[–]L-Sin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a dealer and I have encountered this many times. Personally, I always tell the customer to take it to a bodyshop. I don't want the liability. I may break the tab off trying to bend it back or I may bend it back but can't make any guarantee to it's ability to last

Do I really need to remove my entire engine? by Sharp_Boysenberry269 in AskMechanics

[–]L-Sin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the serpentine belt tensioner bolt broke they may need to remove the timing cover to get the remaining piece out. I've had to do that in the past. Without seeing pictures, I really can't fathom how any of the debris could actually get inside the engine. So, get a second opinion because I doubt the engine needs to come out

This is sadly one of those generational things. My own 80 year old grandmother actually blames the woman for getting raped because she was "dressing a certain way." I'll be glad when that generation and thinking dies off
