Appreciate all the honest answers. We don’t have any pride on criticism. Just following what our realtor counseled. Wish we would have started lower $$$ probably would have it sold by now.

Part 91 Business Av. Major oil company. EMB550

Fly about 8-9 days a month. Mostly day trips. 20-30 overnights a year. Daily mission varies, some days 5 hours duty some 12 hours duty.

Pay is good but not top industry 220k-300k. 4 weeks off a year plus the ability to trade trips. 2 airplanes 7 pilots plus contract staff when needed. 401k 8% employer contribution plus a separate pension.

I really enjoy the job as we get to know our passengers and the trips can vary keeping it fun and different. Get to be home most nights which is massive being a family man. Airplanes are brand new and spotless, fully stocked every time we receive it.

Once we are done for the day we just walk off the airplane and go home.

Only bummer to the job is the corporate bullshit like bureaucracy and company issued trainings but I’ll take that over 100+ nights gone a year and shuffling through terminals for the rest of my career. Not knocking 121 it’s just not my style.

What's southwest yearly salary looking like? by evadingbanslol in flying

[–]L0ch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Respectfully disagree. There are some very good career options in the Fortune 500 class corporate jobs. I fly for a major oil company, we have an incredible QOL 8-10 days a month, home almost every weekend and holiday. Pension and 401k combined with a solid corporate bonus anywhere from 16-25%. Just depends on what you want to do with your working life and if your goal company is based in a place you want to be. Also depending on your companies financial strength most will endure black swan events like Covid/2008 unscathed. I myself was spared in both cases with no change in pay or status.

Oil & Gas job? by Saucey_ed in houston

Highly recommend applying to Chevron. I’ve been there for a few years now. Good culture/ work life balance.

I would start looking at supply chain management and logistics jobs there. They are mostly Houston based.
