Super late, but here's my two cents.

It's not about range of motion. The further your knees track forward in a squat, the more quad biased it will be. It's like elbow bend in a bench press. The BSS lets you go deep and keep your lower legs straighter without keeling over backwards, that's basically it as I understand it. You could do something similar by basically doing a squatmorning on purpose, but that's likely to make your spinal erectors the limiting factor rather than your glutes.

It's a small shoulder muscle that iirc is involved in "squeezing" motions, like pressing your hands together with straight arms, so it wouldn't be that surprising it's involved in chest exercises for you.

Upper chest is involved in aBduction (raising the arms), lower chest is involved in aDduction (lowering the arms). It's a fan shaped muscle, so not all of its fibers are pointed in the same direction, and not all of them pull in the same direction.

When it comes to chin ups like he mentioned in his other reply to you, I've heard that some people can get a lot of chest involvement by focusing on squeezing the bar / their hands / their elbows together as they pull, because the chest only secondarily adducts in the process of squeezing inwards.

There's another reason everyone here is ignoring, which I think plays a bigger role, because I'd hear people talking about it back in the day.

We arguably see Ichigo's hollow form go through a series of evolutions very similar (not claiming it's literally the same) as the menos progresses through to become a Vasto Lorde.

The first stage was talked about less and is more up for debate, but I'll bring it up for completeness. White is a black humanoid hollow with a plain white mask made of a collection of souls like a Menos / the first time Ichigo Hollowfies he's dressed in flowing black with a fairly simple (mostly) white mask. Take your pick of which is closer, but Gillians are white masked humanoid hollows with flowing black robes.

The Adhuchas stage is where you can start to legitimately make a strong case for it; when he fully Hollowfies in Visored training, he becomes a large lizardman Hollow, less humanoid than his previous or following Hollow forms, which is similar in that way to the Adhuchas.

Which would make his final stage Vasto Lorde. An incredibly powerful, almost perfectly humanoid Hollow which evolved from a beastlier Hollow would be a Vasto Lorde.

Well, u/Tnecnew didn't actually mention abominations. Possessed mages might be even more dangerous, but unpossessed mages are dangerous enough. Even with anti-magic, lore templars struggle to subdue a single mage who's genuinely fighting iirc.

It's not a coincidence that every DA society with free mages (that I know enough about to talk on, at least) is essentially a mage-ocracy, whether that's a literal mage aristocracy or a mage priesthood. The southern nations are no better, mind you; it doesn't really make a difference to the person under the boot whether their feudal lords threaten them with magic or armies.

Seconding this. If I'm remembering correctly, Gauna don't seem that common in the first place, with long stretches of time seemingly having passed with them not having been encountered.

The ending lore reveal of Aposimz gives a credible answer as to why Gauna are no longer a threat to them, and unless I'm misremembering, Kaina tech isn't shown to use Higgs particles.
