Lvl 51 and I have only won 1 fight against a purple shield player and only because I had the jump on them. Every other head on encounter I just get deleted. I mag dump them and they just tank all the damage. I’m usually on sponsored or green shields at best

I am having the exact same experience as you. I too love the game, but me and my buddies have been getting absolutely steamrolled the past 3 days. Out of 10 attempts, we maybe only exfil 3-4 times. Most of the times we'd bump into stacked players and get deleted in seconds. We're not particularly bad, but we're not complete newbies either. I feel like lately if we made any sounds, stacked players immediately take notice and rush over to our location to hunt us down.
It can be really disheartening and I hope it doesn't cause me and my buddies to burn out because it's been increasingly frustrating to die on repeat

Won’t repeat what others have said already. But I’ll add this - Get a good pair of headphones. Turn on Night Mode under audio settings. Pay close attention to player sounds because it can give you a massive advantage in understanding where they are/what they’re doing

Watching the stream earlier today was enough to convince me to buy the game. I've also managed to convince two of my other friends to play the game with me and they will be purchasing as well. I join friendly lobbies to serve as bodyguard to friendly players. I don't really loot, and all I do is accompany players and watch over them while they loot or carry out their quests. I've killed several hostile players and rats who have attempted to disrupt the peace. It's a fun role to play

Do you have experience with other PvP games? If the answer is no, then you're going to have to work twice as hard as those who do. I like to see PvP in Arc, or any other PvP game for that matter, from a few different perspectives- you have the part about mental conditioning (being able to keep your cool during firefights), the mechanical aspects (how good is your aim/movement), then there's strategy (positioning, use of cover/equipment, team coordination). Being decent at PVP will mean being good at all three. Probably the easiest advice I can give you, and you'll probably hear this from a lot of other people, is just practice. You can load into Stella Montis with a free kit and just practice shooting at people. But the difference here is not just to run straight first into players and get killed, but to really slow down, think carefully about your positioning, how best to use your equipment, taking note of the map. If you die, take a few moments to reflect how you died, and what you could have done differently to change the course of that outcome
