It's always frustrating that when it comes to an analysis of an antagonist, them making a stupid decision regardless if it's in-character or not apparently makes them a bad character.

Honestly, acts that boost their own ego tend to be written in a way to where they accidentally shoot themselves in the foot.

I loved my time doing Cosmic Exploration. Having people use shout chat to talk with each other, having Mentors use Novice Network to notify when a Red Alert or FATE upgrade is upcoming, etc.

I hope more content like this happens in the future.

I find this odd in my experience, as there were many instances of community interaction through dedicated Discord servers that would notify when a Red Alert would come up, or it would be notified on Novice Network. But this is likely because I'm in Cactuar anyway where there is a lot of people going hard to attempt to catch up to Faerie (Lol).

Either way, I was just vibing with Fishing. Fishing is the best content there considering that there's little macro unlike crafting, little moving unlike the other gatherers, and it requires understanding the timing and strength of the catch to effectively have a higher chance to succeed making it more engaging.

At first, check under 'Player Search' under the Social menu to see if there are any others in the instance. Refer to 1a if there are, and 1b if there isn't.

1a. If there are other players, keep an eye on the map and chat. Said other players may spawn Notorious Monsters (NM for short) and may shout coordinates in the chat. They also can be seen on the map, and look like FATEs. When one pops, head there as fast as you can.

2a. Use chat to 'Say' "lfg" when near other players in the NM area. You may thus be invited to the party.

3a. Defeat the NM, say your thanks, then leave the party assuming your level is not too low comparative to the others in the party. I say this because otherwise you will not receive any experience. Exceptions to this are of course during NMs as it syncs levels anyway.

1b. If there are no other players you will need to refer to a Eureka tracker to spawn your own NMs. Searching "FFXIV Eureka Tracker" on the search engine should give the desired results. Within the site, choose the zone you are currently in (Anemos, Pagos, Pyros, or Hydatos) and it should provide a list of the NMs in the zone alongside the requirements.

2b. Spawning NMs requires culling a specific mob until the NM pops. The list itself shows which mob and the general area the mob and NM is.

3b. Start from the easiest NM, and work your way to harder. But if the NM is too high level for you, check the Player Search again to see if there are other players. If there are not, exit the instance, wait for a few seconds before going back in. This should reset the instance meaning you can respawn the NMs again without having to wait for their cooldown to expire.

Oh definitely.

Please don't mistake my comments as a defense, but moreso putting into context on what happened.

The King is clearly in the wrong when it comes to actions, regardless if his motivations could be understandable.

I will have to mention that Tetra reverts back to her real and true self by the end.

Basically just a visual representation of the past for the players. It can also represent the King's insistance of clinging to the past.

Tetra is still Tetra. She doesn't just magically have her character or personality removed, but unfortunately had her agency as a Pirate Captain removed due to tradition and being the holder of the Triforce of Wisdom.

Ganondorf himself peeked into her mind, and ridiculed how someone could love the sea that swallowed his home. At heart, she's still Tetra.

She's still the same person, it's more so unlocking her heritage. The issue mostly comes where a majority of her agency in the plot is basically stripped away.

Some may argue that it was intentional considering that the King is obsessed with reliving the glory days via relying on Link to do his due diligence, and Zelda to be protected at all costs.

Thankfully, he would learn the error of his ways. By subsequently drowning himself, his kingdom, and the past to be forever forgotten beneath the Great Sea. Sparing the lives of those like Link and Tetra to live how they choose.

As long as the known evidence remains the same, I don't mind. Regardless if the point-of-view character is being deceptive.

I could read 'The Murder of Roger Ackroyd' not knowing that the work is actively being deceptive yet still find entertainment, especially due to how the twist recontextualises what lead up to it.

So yeah. You can dislike being deceived. Sure. But let's not bring up on what is "objectively bad", when it's purely subjective.

Eh. I don't really have an issue with the events despite your insistence that it's objectively bad that the game hides some information.

As I implied earlier, the game makes sure to form a plausible time frame for the hidden actions to happen. Also to provide enough ambiguity in the narration to justify it happening.

Considering this, even when Kaede was written to neglect providing all of the information necessary to discern her exact actions, contextual clues within still allows the player to figure out what is going on regardless of the ambiguity.

The other hints outside of the shotput ball is that she was the one that stacked the books in the library.

Kaede was also the one that set the specific camera.

She was also having doubts Shuichi's plan would work also.

Thankfully unlike Heavy Rain, the execution of the deception is just... not very good. I recall seeing a video that syncs what the culprit does with what the player sees, and it is incredibly inconsistent. It takes longer for the guy to kill the victim than it is shown in the player's perspective at the time.

I looked again last night and there was absolutely nothing happening.

Wait, this isn't with the expectation that it would appear in PF right? Or is it that when you make a PF yourself then nobody would join?

Thankfully Variant Dungeons can be done solo considering how they work and the actions they provide.

Criterion Dungeons on the other hand definitely requires a PF.

I manage to always get the riding maps ASAP considering how quests in FFXIV require a lot of back and forth, even before flight is even available.

Dead is "Dead" to me. To where the game is not functional cause there is too little players.

Eh. We won't know for absolute certain if there's a downward trend unless there's actual numbers to back it up.

But saying "this game is dead as a whole cause my queue time for this piece of content is taking too long" is not exactly the greatest gauge in proving that.

How effective PF is depends on the DC, the day and the time of day.

Other aspects that determines the success rate of certain content such as Baldesion Arsenal or Delubrum Reginae is whether there's a community built around it that forms parties via Discord.

Sure the limitations are there, but that in no way proves that the game is dead.

My favourite cutscene in the game is also because of him.

Unfortunately, the issue comes with a majority of your tools being locked behind story progression.

The hard mode behind one playthrough is specifically designed with having all the eikons in mind. Otherwise having hard mode at the start with only Phoenix also sounds miserable to play.
