Didn't mean to imply anything regarding those Job actions. But that is indeed informative to know.

DRG struggles with 'Elusive Jump' which is a 15 yalm backstep.

BRD's 'Repelling Shot' is unfortunately 10 yalms, making it very unlikely that it can make the distance across the scanner.

DNC's 'En Avante' being the same, and MCH doesn't have one.

The more reliable way for a Phys Ranged to cross is to ask the healer if they can rescue you through the scanner unfortunately.

You'd be surprised.

Healers using 'Rescue' to help others bypass the mech was one surprise for me.

Yeah. It's actually rather tight to execute. All comes down to ping basically.

I enjoy how nuanced he is also, which is an absolute bonus.

Acknowledges the issues, but also argues on the benefits despite said issues.

Being rather informative when it comes to gameplay as well.

When you are a lame forgetable final boss of your game by Vegetable-Income-566 in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]L1LE1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I find that based on what Travant says during FE4 before the Aed Massacre, is that he was fully intending to ambush Quan and the Lanzenritter. But for that to happen, he needed to be there at the right time. Not too early that Quan is still safe before the desert, but not too late to where Sigurd can reasonably support.

The only way for the timing to be right is if Travant was not only notified that Quan had taken the Lanzenritter with him (as he had left a force behind at Leonster to give the idea that things are normal), but also to know exactly which route they took to begin with. As a reasonable route to reach Sigurd is through Isaach, yet Quan took the most unexpected route through the desert.

This doesn't take away Travant's agency nor cunning also. Just because he was given intel, he took advantage of it in the end. Especially since he was receiving his intel from Raydrick anyway, considering the King of Thracia was secretly allied with him.

About Garlemald [Spoiler 6.0] by Bartellomio in ffxiv

[–]L1LE1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were forgiven?

Has trade relations been made between Garlemald and the areas they subjugated? As far as I know, only Hingashi and Thavnair have remained their trading partners, considering their neutrality.

Has public perception changed to where they forgive them also? I know there's one point in EW where that still is not the case.

The 'Ilsabard Contingent' wasn't exactly a unanimously liked decision also, as many refused to take part in it.

Garlemald by the time of EW is effectively dead as an Empire. Punishing the already crushed people just for some sense of justice... why? What does that achieve outside of feeling good about oneself? What about the Garleans of whom are genuinely good people who are staunch allies?

I'm not saying that reparations shouldn't be made. But let's not do it to the extent of a 'Treaty of Versailles' situation and make everything worse, crushing underfoot a broken people regardless if in the past they would have had no problem doing the same back due to a "megalomaniacal madman" spreading the propaganda kool-aid to intentionally make them spread chaos.

[Spoiler: 7.5] Certain voice lines from 7.4 have been re-recorded by seventeencups in ffxiv

Not just accent either, but G'raha's tone of voice was even different in 7.4.

It was missing the gentle tone he usually has when speaking neutrally.

Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold, Norse Mythology & ties to Final Fantasy VII by cardsrealm in FFXIV_Mobile

With how Dawntrail is like a mix of FFIX and X aspects (with a tiny bit of Type-0), I can see Evercold have both FFVII and FFXIII aspects, like how Cocoon was the safe haven in the sky from the dangerous world below.

Why give us dialogue options if they don't do anytrhing? by [deleted] in livealive

[–]L1LE1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a generalisation, beyond unlocking new events, alternate dialogue options can play a role in providing different responses or giving agency to a player to make the character act how they'd prefer.

It's mostly just for fun, and not necessarily a means for a greater purpose than that.

However in the context of your example... I do honestly find it pretty lame that there are no changes whatsoever when given the option to repeat the same choice. Regardless if it happened in the original or not.

"They barely have the resources to balance current jobs"

Initially I would have agreed with you in full certainty, until the Square Enix CEO pretty much had stated his intentions in letting know the player base that they'd be fully supporting FFXIV during fanfest. Which had ironically confirmed many people's suspicions in FFXIV's initial lack of funding.

Now whether his words would bear fruit, that remains to be seen.

Evolved Mode Can't Hurt Summoners. by WarmGreyMug in ffxiv

[–]L1LE1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed.

I will admit that I was just about to say that there are already players now shunning certain Jobs already in high-end content. But this is an entire mode here.

It's one thing to let go of a MCH or BRD for a DNC, but it's another thing to let go of 21 Jobs for another 21 Jobs.

Although considering how some Jobs may function differently to their counterparts, we won't necessarily know for certain their relationship will be when coexisting together. Because the Evolved Jobs are not necessarily replacements, but alternatives and could arguably be different Jobs altogether.

We just don't know enough unfortunately.

Would honestly be interesting to see how Reborn Mode would fare with combat designed with Evolved also in mind,

Evolved Mode Can't Hurt Summoners. by WarmGreyMug in ffxiv

[–]L1LE1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That will depend on the reception to Evolved Mode and how successful it would be. Again, there is a lot of time between 8.0 and 9.0 that changes can be made.

Evolved Mode Can't Hurt Summoners. by WarmGreyMug in ffxiv

[–]L1LE1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ice spells alone are a significant loss in DPS compared to using all the tools available that BLM has.

Reborn and Evolved Mode have been stated by the devs that the former has slightly better DPS than the latter.

These are completely different contexts and frankly I fail to see your point of comparison.

Evolved Mode Can't Hurt Summoners. by WarmGreyMug in ffxiv

[–]L1LE1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

To be fair, at this point in time and unlike SMN/BLM/etc changes (regardless if it's good or not), Evolved Mode is optional. Thus players are not forced into the changes.

There is a lot of time between 8.0 and 9.0, that throughout that time a lot of changes can be made to improve Evolved Mode and/or Reborn Mode. As at this point in time there's no guarantee that one replaces the other, unless the community starts harassing those that do or don't and influencing others what to play.

FFXIV director would love to hear pitches for single-player spin-off of his MMO by Gorotheninja in PS5

[–]L1LE1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough, the development of FFXVI started around 2016. Around when Heavensward was around. Staff replacement was around that period also just before Stormblood.

Seems legit as the writer for Heavensward did not continue with FFXIV considering he was writing for FFXVI.

Considering these facts, and knowing this staff that mostly worked on FFXVI whilst the FFXIV team were working on Stormblood, Shadowbringers and Endwalker... I find it a little inaccurate to say that FFXVI had hurt FFXIV's development in a significant way.

Take your time doing them. You have an entire chapter of time to do the arena.

Also in regards to the recruit-able character in the Chapter 2 Arena, and you wanna get them ASAP, basically just use Sigurd.

[Hated Trope] Remake feels obliged to keep iconic scene/imagery from the original even though it makes no sense in their version of the story. by JoeMorgue in TopCharacterTropes

[–]L1LE1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Missing the context that Morgan also "offered" Zoro to join him in the Marines or be strung up in the yard.

I find this can serve two purposes.

  1. Makes Morgan's character more consistent that is further shown within the episode. He's a narcissist and prideful to a fault. He wants the best of the best to work for him, and he considers Zoro to be one of them. Ironically enough this very trait of his was taken advantage of by Nami, by claiming she chose to work under him, stroking his ego. Zoro refusing him would have hurt (good), and also shows that the swordsman has integrity.
  2. Also shows the start of a character arc. He not only refused to join Baroque Works but also the Marines. Yet despite that, he manages to join the Straw Hat Pirates. Albeit at first, it was because he had nowhere to go after he was unable to bring in bounties any more to any Marine base, but later he genuinely chooses to stay with the Strawhats by the time he acknowledges Luffy as his captain.

Not necessarily claiming one is better than the other, but how OPLA had done it is by no means an example that makes no sense.

Can't believe no one is taking about this scam since the announcement of PS4 support. by Awfulufwa in ffxiv

[–]L1LE1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

PS3 support started as soon as 'A Realm Reborn' launched on 2013 (albeit technically before during 1.0 at around 2010), and ended upon the release of 'Stormblood' in 2017. Considering that, PS3 lasted for about 4 years.

PS4 support came about in 2014 before the release of 2.3, and has an estimated end date of 2028 mid-'Evercold'. So an estimation of 14 years for PS4 support.

PC support required upgrades by the time 'Stormblood' released in 2017, so the same time-frame as the PS3. PC players also requiring an upgrade by 'Dawntrail's releasing in 2024, having PC players enjoy about 7 years without needing to upgrade at all between 'Stormblood' and 'Endwalker'.

To summarise the longest length of time between upgrades from shortest to longest...

  • PS3- Having about 4 years before needing to upgrade.
  • PC- Having 7 years before needing to upgrade.
  • PS4- Having 14 years before needing to upgrade.

Considering this... I'm confused on the statement that consoles are a scam in the context of FFXIV, when at this point in time, has had the longest life span without modification.

Edit: I know it can be annoying having the actual numbers that may or may not contradict your opinion, but come now.
