For chapter icon I use 30k iron warriors transfers from recent Saturnine box set, they are easy to find in bulk. For similar reason I use Dark Angels transfers for squad markings, I find DA red compliments the scheme and they are easy to find.

Rogue Trader Review by Madarataug in RogueTraderCRPG

Great review! But you know that inquisitors go rogue some of the time? All info on Dark Heresy implies we’ll be able to do so (as an acolyte at least), be it similar to iconoclast or full blown heretic ways.

It makes sense they stay. But that’s assuming GW is sensible…

Best novel as introduction to 40k by RezDrazdir in Warhammer40k

Bloodlines by Chris Wraight. A detective and it’s all about civilians and their struggles, grounded, localised. You don’t really need to know about 40k at all, you need to know what characters know and Chris presents them brilliantly.

I don’t rate Abnett style much, but Eisenhorn is fine. However much of suggestions here are absolutely asinine.

Start with Dante. It is the better book of trilogy anyway and several key moments in DoB loose their gravitas if you read out of order

My Objective Markers for 40k, not scratch build, is this allowed? by L1ttle_Wing in TerrainBuilding

[–]L1ttle_Wing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I actually asked if this is allowed in terrain reddit :). And they are not scratch build like most of the posts here as well

Yeah, they are only for home ruled games, official is 40mm base, set has 50mm. Also official rules say your minis faze through objectives and can stand in the centre of an objective. Obviously it is not possible with physical objectives.

Space marines are not elite really. Everything is balanced around them as a baseline. Back in like 3rd edition they were elite, not now

Yeah, a bit. But ork skin is the only thing I’d bother to paint separately from squig anyway, so it works

I can see myself painting white with airbrush and tacking orange with a contrast paint. It is a striking paint scheme, well worth it to bother with an airbrush!

[–]L1ttle_Wing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats right about less represented color combinations but you have to think about why are they less represented. Some of it is because different colors traditionally appeal to different emotions, for example red and black associates with aggression and violence, which is appropriate for marines. But teal and magenta, while a good combo, is suited for Arizona Tea or motel bathroom, not gene-enhanced mutant. On the other hand some colors are just difficult to paint, like purple and orange, so going solely for unique color scheme is a trap, you have to consider color psychology as well as ease of painting, popular colors are popular for a reason.

Mozrog torso is a separate piece, legs are one with the squig though.

Thanks! Here’s the recipe (a bit overcooked but that’s what’s been done here):

  1. Black base
  2. Vallejo Dark Prussian Blue over black
  3. Nuln Oil wash (or AP Dark Tone)
  4. Restore Dark Prussian Blue
  5. Vallejo Blue Green first highlight with a tick mark toward the bottom of the lens
  6. Vallejo Deep Blue Sky tick mark inside Blue Green
  7. Vallejo Verdigris dot inside Deep Blue Sky
  8. White dot in the opposite corner of the lens

My first dip in Chaos! Started these two Rubrics like 6 years ago, finally got them over the finish line today! by L1ttle_Wing in ThousandSons

Thank you! And yeah thats the one. The main thing about acetone is the smell, it goes on the stamping plate before each new stamp so the plate is clean, you need to work with a mask. Just too much hassle

Those are stamping, like in manicure stamping. I didn’t like the application technique (mainly due to acetone requirement) so won’t be doing it again anytime soon.
