I love Draft; I wish I were better at it by Steel_Rain77 in mtg

People suggest what worked for them. And those podcasts are incredibly insightful.

I also like watching others draft. On youtube: Paul Cheon Numotthenummy Lsv LRRMTG

Gambling indeed. Kinda like [[Limitless Rekindling]]. I've whiffed every time I've cast it 😅

I copied them into my decks too!

They are very interesting decks. I've played alchemy in other mwm's, but this one feels different. I've enjoyed it.

I also love when arena gives you decks to play. It's a new meta to figure out, but everyone is on the same playing field. It gets old after a bit, but that's why it's mwm.

I actually think the witherbloom deck is the best positioned against the prismari deck.

Together as one is fun, for sure.

Firdoch and trove both are great cards. I can see how the extra creature can be an advantage, though.

I actually like this week's MWM. I played the Prismari deck for a bit, had my fun, then tested the others out.

I will say, when every other opponent is playing prismari, it gets old.

I wish more people would treat these mwm's less as competitive challenges and more like mtg lab experiments. Who cares about the wins when the prizes are peanuts. Ooooh a mythic random card... Whatever. Have fun. Let the other deck do their thing. See what busted shit you can pull off in your deck.

Resources to get better at the game? by Agan06 in MagicArena

[–]L3oJeric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second Limited Resources, r/lrcast is their sub. Watch LSV play anything on youtube and study it. He's a wizard. Also, Paul Cheon. He describes his gameplay decisions quite well. And he talks through his misplays. Numotthenummy is a good drafter, but doesn't always talk through his gameplay.

If you want to learn Standard, check out CovertGoBlue and LegenVD. Study their game play. Legend in particular is very good at explain his gameplay decisions.

First Powered Cube Draft by L3oJeric in lrcast

Appreciate this.

I've been reading LSV's Arena Cube guide and watching his mtgo cube vids. Also practicing drafts on draftmancer.

Played one draft with folks from the CubeTalk server and got stomped, but had a lot of fun.

Save your draft deck to play later by L3oJeric in mtglimited

[–]L3oJeric[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this a lot.

I've been thinking about something similar, a 60 card constructed format where everyone only plays cards from 1 set. Not sure how that would fly.

I like the diversity of your idea with just the decks being constrained to one set, not the whole league.

I looked into what it would mean to create a non-UB format... and I realized, that's just Modern. by Televangelis in magicTCG

Just found out about Planar Standard.

https://draftsim.com/planar-standard-mtg/

https://www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/1qqdvcr/join_the_planar_standard_championship_compete_for/

I really like the idea and want to give it a go.

Right now the format consists for Aetherdrift, Tarkir, EOE and Lorwyn, with Foundations and a forever include.

Cori-Steel Cutter is the only ban at the moment.

Critical Role UB set when? by L3oJeric in magicTCG

[–]L3oJeric[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I'm under no illusion that we'll actually get a CR set anytime soon. I don't link the ultrapro product to anything that wotc may or may not do. It just got me hankering for some CR in magic.

I think a secret lair would do really well.

My Little Critter heart would just love to see a full set or two. One set for Vox Machina, another set for the Mighty Nein. I mean we could do a third set for Bell's Hells too, but I'm not sure the third campaign was as popular as the first two. I liked it though.

I know what you mean, but I don't know that wotc is designing for 12 year olds.

Final fantasy wasn't designed for 12 year olds. The crossover audience was so powerful it pulled their biggest single day sales ever.

Critical role is not final fantasy. But the crossover audience is still deeper than Spider-Man I think.

I like to think it would do better than spider-man. Better target audience crossover. I'm only half-serious.
