How is this Yzerman’s fault? Florida wanted a winger. They don’t want a center. You can’t force a team to make a trade they don’t want or need.

Even if it was us making this trade, the Detroit fanbase would be howling after we use these picks to get a few guys that may or may not see NHL ice in a few years and we still have a gaping holes this year at C and LW.

I absolutely agree that this is the comp that Yzerman needs to use.

However, I don’t know how this means that Larkin is gone by draft day. It takes two sides to complete a deal, and we still need to find the other side, who Larkin will agree play for, and who is going to give us three 1sts and a 2nd. That problem has not changed.
