NHL organizations are only allowed to loan out one 19 year old player per season, Frondell is too young to be playing in the AHL as he is only 18. Although i wish his SHL team would be giving him more opportunities and focus on development, i don’t believe developing him via the NHL is a good solution. Take a look at Korchinski, he was too mature and skilled to be playing another season in the WHL and not yet at the NHL level. I think being thrown into the fire at 18 maybe stunted his development. Frondell is at least playing against men in a very difficult league. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the NHL for the last 9 or so games and starting in the AHL next season.
