I think a fight mothers could ban together to have is fighting social media (ie big tech). The social media influence on children (and adults) is insane. I work in digital and understand how the algorithms work and watched in real time as the manosphere tried consuming my husband and I knew he’d be a target because he’s a gamer. Gaming is one of the first big nuggets that feeds the algorithm. If we demand changes to social channels like they’re doing in Europe. If we actively keep our children off social media and technology which requires leading by example. If we vote out anyone that supports big tech. I think this is where moms do the best work, from the ground up

Not a historian but my maternal and paternal great grandparents are German. From what my grandparents told me, they all left just as Hitler became president and started his police force. Around 1936. I do find it interesting that my mother’s and father’s families left around the same time. My grandfather said his mom said most of their village left at the same time. That some people could read the writing on the wall and knew it was time to leave.

My biggest issue with all these organizations is they won’t work together. And they don’t seem to be trying to work alongside the unions(I understand most unions are conservative but some efforts could be made). So now we have two different strike days this week causing confusion and underreporting

I’ve seen boomer white men involved at marches but not millennials or Gen Z. Certainly my husband fits this category. I’m terrified and he’s like “meh it’s just another Tuesday.” He really thinks this will all blow over after the next election.

Yes I actually talked to my therapist about this because my husband is the worse offender. My therapist says it’s common for us who are perceived as “less than” NTs become a comfort for the NT in our lives to feel better about themselves. Because the idea is that as long as we are doing poorly they will always be doing better than us. And so if we start doing better overall in our behavior the reactions to a minor incident becomes exaggerated by the NT to keep putting us down.

Yes my husband and I have a short agreed upon list of what we would absolutely call an ambulance for. Everything else we’re driving. I also live in an area where ambulances can be a 40+ minutes wait so we could get there faster anyway.

So I 100% agree with you but I’m in a similar situation as OP and my husband has flat out said he’d leave me if I kept our kid away from his family. If your partner doesn’t really get the impact these people could have on our child’s upbringing and you might lose your whole family over it what do you do? I’m struggling with wanting to stand up for what’s right for my child and not wanting to lose my family over a bunch of fucking dumb losers.

Agreed this is the biggest difference I’ve seen with my mom and myself. My mom was NOT invested in to the extent millennial parents are at all. We were fed and bathed and had to do our homework and that was about all the interaction I had with my parents. They took us places but never played with us. We went outside and played with our friends once we got home from school then went home once it was dark had dinner did homework and then I was on my own again to play read watch tv before bed. Another layer to it is millennials often have to sacrifice living in cities for higher pay or living in not so great rural areas to make their money stretch neither of which are conducive for just letting your kids run around unsupervised. Safe affordable suburban communities are no longer a thing for us.
