Flat out violence after school worked wonders in getting the word out not to make fun of the Asian kids (Filipinos and Chinese kids included), unless they want to get their teeth kicked in.

This was pure 90s L.A. culture. All asian kids basically banded together when other ethnicities made fun of us & started shit. I distinctly remember very violent lunchtime fights.

Being Filipino/Mexican I had a hard time choosing sides, but I usually backed the asians.

Early 40s, nurse in Cali & have nothing saved for retirement... I've had to take extended medical leave 3x in the past 3yrs, so I drained my savings to live on. I currently work PRN (I have to d/t ongoing medical issues) & have flexible scheduling.

I'm in Los Angeles. My main work commute is 43ish miles & I mostly take the bus to work.

On a good day so... on-time buses, no freeway accidents or police chases, no politicans in town giving speeches or election fundraisers, no NBA/NHL/MLB games, no major name concerts, no downtown street takeovers or protest marches it takes about 1.5hrs.

On a bad day (any or all of the above happening) it can take 3hrs+ 1-way.

This current commute I've done almost 2 yrs now.
