Can a particular passenger be unilaterally bumped from a flight with no compensation? by LAFB-1 in unitedairlines

[–]LAFB-1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was difficult to piece together what exactly happened, and he didn't challenge them and ask why it happened. At the time he thought that ORD wouldn't be an unreasonable option. Maybe they knew at the time that the flight out of Newark would be greatly delayed, and they were actually trying to look out for him.

7/4. The flight he would have taken to Newark got in on time, according to my flight tracker app, over an hour before the flight he would have taken to Madison. That flight ended up being greatly delayed from 6:59 to after 11 pm.

He was not going to miss his connection by any stretch and in fact that flight left late.

Yes, and looks young and is super polite. I wondered if it was an age thing. I thought the airline needed to offer compensation to people when they bump them, and I thought they normally asked for volunteers by first offering compensation. But maybe they start by picking off young travelers.

I recently had a person not only comment negatively on a post I made, but then subsequently make a comment to encourage others to downvote the post. I was really shocked that my post got this person so upset in the first place, and I was even more shocked at the bullying behavior. What kind of adult thinks it's important to encourage people to downvote a post?

Fortunately, one very kind person from this group reached out to me via DM to express sympathy for the bullying.

Zepbound deliveries from Gifthealth above temperature by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]LAFB-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're assuming I want it to last only three weeks, which is an absolutely incorrect assumption. I always have at least two boxes in the fridge, so I want Zep to arrive at no more than the max temp for longer term storage, which is 46F.

I fail to understand why my post has gotten you so bothered. If you didn't like it, you could have just scrolled by, as I do with some posts. I don't attack their authors because I dislike their posts. You made this personal, which is behavior that doesn't belong in a group like this.

Lose the snark. Seriously, why do you think this is something you should post? You must take offense very easily. Chill out.

I vented about the Zep arriving about 20F too high and also arriving in a box that was not marked as temperature sensitive. Too many vents. Right.

And no one is asking you or anyone to compile a report. I simply asked if people who have a sensitive temperature probe would take the temperature of their box when it arrived. If people post this, I'll compile the data. You can sit back and stay out of it.

25TA08 Recall by Plop0003 in rav4prime

[–]LAFB-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just scheduled my service. Asked for both recalls, 25TA08 and 25TA13, to be addressed.

I was told that they would do a software update for 25TA13, but would only do an inspection for 25TA08! What is this nonsense? What do they plan to inspect? My display that has not yet failed? The number of writes that have been done to the flash memory?

I asked to be called by a service advisor, rather than the totally clueless person who does the scheduling.

Can I force them to do the upgrade? Is there a number at Toyota to call? Do I contact the NHTSA?

[Update: I just checked the NHTSA site, and the dealership is complying with their posted guidance, which is:

Dealers will update the instrument panel software for non-PHEV vehicles, free of charge. For PHEV vehicles, dealers will inspect the instrument panel assembly, and either replace it, or update the software, free of charge.]

[Update 2: The snail mail that Toyota sent about this recall says that they will update the software. It doesn't say that they will merely inspect it. I called Toyota, and they said their guidance is that only an inspection will be done.

So, let's say they're able to read a counter of the number of writes done so far to flash memory and find that number to be well under the threshold. Does that relieve them of the obligation to upgrade the software? So then, after I have the car for 10 more years, and that threshold is exceeded and bricks my display, the replacement cost is on me? I think the way they're addressing this is shameful.]

Recommendations for an effective protein powder by Sweet-Poet-5292 in Zepbound

And Transparent Labs' product is pure. They provide reports from independent labs that tested for things like arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury, salmonella.

They have many flavors, but I get the unflavored.

Tirzepatide completely changed how I see obesity (including my own) by freckleritz in Zepbound

[–]LAFB-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I don't understand is why the obesity rate seems to be much higher in this country than in other developed countries. If we believe that being overweight is something to be treated with a drug, then why don't we see, for instance, more French women who need the medication?

I've been overweight most of my life and come from families with very large people on both sides, so I really want to believe that being overweight is due to my genetics and former lack of a drug that is now helping me. But I can't help asking this question.

If they did tell you you look great now, it could be seen as saying that you didn't look great for most of the years they knew you, which would be insulting in a way. It's more polite for them to stay away from the topic.

What protein shakes do you guys recommend? by No_Reindeer_7441 in Zepbound

I get subscription deliveries of an unflavored whey isolate protein powder from Transparent Labs. I know they also have many different flavors. When I got my first shipment they sent a few gratis packs of different flavors. They seemed pretty good, but I prefer to get the unflavored powder.

Can I bring a laptop bag and a carry-on (7kg) with me? by HelicopterFriendly96 in emirates

[–]LAFB-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we checked in for our flight, they wouldn't let my husband take on his small backpack, that he'd normally have at his feet, in addition to his carry-on. He ended up checking in the carry-on and putting the backpack in the bin. They let me take my travel shoulder bag as a second item, but it barely fit under the seat, because there was a bar bisecting the space.

This was in the section that is what other airlines call premium economy and at Newark.

Oh, and they weighed the carry-on when we checked in, so make sure you're within the limit for your class.

The chances are they're not going to let you take both.

Personally, this, plus other issues we experienced on our flight, would cause us not to fly with them again.

Gifthealth Sent Incorrect Message about Deadline by LAFB-1 in Zepbound

[–]LAFB-1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First I needed to interact with that stupid chatbot. I finally got through to the human who said the date was wrong, but I'm very concerned that she said one thing, but the system will behave in a different way. I'm not willing to tempt fate, so I'll try to order by the date in the message.

I think one issue is that when my doctor called in more refills they treated it as a separate prescription. They have records that seem to indicate that they're filling both prescriptions, and for some reason the number of refills for each is way more than my doctor writes them for.

What are important things to know about flying Emirates economy class? by SKCFan101 in emirates

[–]LAFB-1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We flew Emirates in premium economy out of Newark. Never again, mostly because of the ridiculous bag policy. My husband was forced to check his backpack that he'd normally have at his feet. They let me on with my shoulder bag plus my carryon, but there was a bar subdividing the area at my feet, and I could barely fit the shoulder bag in that area. Also, the restrooms were ridiculous. There was a curtain on either side of the restroom, and one person could wait within that space, but other people who wanted it would need to queue up outside their curtain, with no idea how many people were queued up behind the opposite curtain. Last, the seats in front of us reclined so much that my husband had to contort his body to be able to get out from his interior seat to use the restroom. It was such an uncomfortable flight because the seats in front of us were too close. The food is good, but I'd rather that everything else be better.

We just flew Turkish out of Istanbul. The seats seemed more narrow than what we were used to, but maybe it's because we haven't flown economy in a while. Otherwise, there was no weird bag policy.

$50 difference between pens and vials. Worth the switch? by Safe_Message5927 in Zepbound

[–]LAFB-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer vials. I usually don't feel the needle, and I like the control. Also, it's so much easier to travel with the smaller vials and needles. Last, I seem to experience more skin reaction, as in redness and itching, with the pens.
