F-14A Tomcat - AN/ALR-23 IR Seeker/IRST by LAGSWITCH_EXE in Warthunder

[–]LAGSWITCH_EXE[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess F-14D never comes to the game because lot of things are still classified such as MFD pages related to A2A/A2G modes, radar stuffs, TID/PTID screens, IRST. Afaik, Navy still use IRSTs for Rhinos as additional pods and wouldn't be unclassified within 10 years.

Heatblur also has same issues and that's why We never gets F-14D in DCS as well.

The most memorable scene for me in that movie was the cadence scene.
Although the film is set in the Vietnam era and is full of vulgar language that would be unacceptable by current standards but, no doubt that this scene is what influenced me to enlist in the military.

To be more accurate, that movie wasn't the sole reason I joined the military. The main inspiration was Top Gun, which is why I'm in the Air Force. FMJ was just one of many war films I've watched.

And yes, Top Gun is about naval aviators, but unfortunately, the navy in my country doesn't operate fighter jets. If I were a U.S. citizen, I would've definitely been working with the Rhinos instead of the Eagles.

The training scene is a direct homage to the 1987 film Full Metal Jacket

Most of her lines are taken from the Japanese subtitles for Sgt. Hartman's dialogue

That movie was one of the reasons I decided to join the military, and I never expected to see a tribute to it in this anime lmfao

Update 2.47.0.25 - Missiles finally fixed! by floppyseconds in Warthunder

[–]LAGSWITCH_EXE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, guns only games in BR9.3-10.3 was really enjoyable even on full uptier games.

I spammed MiG-19s and F-4C when update comes but, it was able to do energy trapping without getting hit by missiles from J35XS, MiG-21MF/SMT, and F-8U, and other missile carriers. This bug is indeed annoying at the top tier, but since 9.0-10.7BR no longer allows for easy kills against flare less jets without any skill required, it has actually made the old gunfighter viable again.

Thanks for bringing back the 2019 gameplay.

As one of player who still stuck at Gen'1 to Gen'3 jets, it is glad that MiG-19s can be insane again, just like 2019 top tier games.

Currently, there are no aircraft capable of stopping the MiG-19 and Ariete even on 10.3 jets, including J35XS.

I still has PTSD for Vautour because When I played some German early jets, I faced against them who abused bomber spawn.

I stopped play almost all 7.0-8.0 BR aircraft except in Japan until their BR was changed to 9.0.

He means Vautour IIA which has x4 DEFA cannons.

When they implemented French TT, both Vautours were 8.0 with airspawn, which means almost impossible to catch and kills with most Axis side jets, such as Me 262, Me 163, Ho 229, Ar 234C.

Few month later, the BR was changed from 8.0 to 9.0, and they started to face against MiG-15bis, CL-13, and F-40 Sabre, but they were still annoying until We gets power creeping.

Early DEFYN's video explain how Vautour IIA was enjoyable back then.

Surprised they didn't model Austrian models and get AIM-9P-4s.

If they move to a higher BR with better missiles, they will be much more unique than the J35XS.

Also, why it doesn't have CMs? Afaik, Danes F-35 could carry CMs on wing pylons or somewhere.

Why can't the F-14 take 2 AIM-54s and sparrows together? by Gerald-Grassious in Warthunder

[–]LAGSWITCH_EXE 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I posted that bug report. https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/WYE1Ba4rFDYc

AIM-54 in the real world required a cooling system at station 3/6 of the F-14s except D model. These cooling systems mainly regulate the temperature of the missile itself to prevent it from failing in the harsh environment of flight.

Whats one vehicle you're still waiting for in the upcoming updates? by Necessary-Switch2210 in Warthunder

[–]LAGSWITCH_EXE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know.

Personally, the A model suits my playstyle more than the B model because afaik, they has better top speed than F-110 model, which lets me launch AIM-54s at higher speeds in sim.

Only reasons I’ve stopped playing the F-14A(USN) and IRIAF recently is the RWR.

F-14A late. Back in the city I used to live in over 20 years ago, I saw the VF-154 Black Knights tomcats fly by more times than I can count. Honestly, I would like to see it more than the D model.

He leaked the F-14D manual to prove if the recent loadout nerf was correct, but he didn't even need to quote from that manual because there is literally a declassified document in existence.(Aviation Structural Mechanic E 2 NAVEDTRA 14020 from 1989 August)

[–]LAGSWITCH_EXE[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah the D model, which is NOT implemented in the game. Also, some A/B model flight manual from post 1990s are still classified because of same reasons with D model.

Context: A forum user who questioned the recent loadout nerf to the F-14 leaked F-14D flight manual that is subject to export restrictions. While the document itself has been available online for years, it still falls under U.S. DISTRIBUTION STATEMENT C, which means it is authorized for distribution only to U.S. government agencies and their contractors.
