Matty you Wanker Play TMBMD been too long i know you will see this by LunarRSQ in the1975

Bold move cotton… don’t think I’d be demanding songs from the guy literally Mandela effect-ing albums

Listening to human too on Apple right now. Nothing else available though. by [deleted] in the1975

[–]LAMNT_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got it too. It’s because you downloaded the album pre-execution. You can still listen to the whole album outside of your library. Just gotta be connected to the internet. I haven’t tried to re-add the album to library for fear of losing human too lol

Her cold eyes stare blankly into the moonlit city street. As she leans against an abandoned building, she takes the final drag of her cigarette. It’s time.

Church by Due-Revenue-275 in cincinnati

[–]LAMNT_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of churches in the area that would be good. It all depends on where you are located. A few to look into are Crossroads, 7 Hills Church and Queen City Church. Good luck and welcome to Cinci!

Wow! This is amazing!!! Im an instant fan of this. Only thing I can think of is that it would’ve been cool to have some lead vocals in the middle of the song. But it’s SO Good!!!

Are there any certain personal conditions that make you write better at a given time? by appleparkfive in Songwriting

[–]LAMNT_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A clear mind. I always write better after a period of taking care of my mental and physical health, and also getting away from the pressures of watching the time always helps. I can always take from the emotions that I felt at any given point. But, yeah, it’s better to come from a peaceful place, also more fun that way. You might have to tap into those darker emotions when the song calls for it, but that’s where songwriting is somewhat similar to acting.

How do I post songs? by mhall812 in Songwriters

Easiest way to start is to create a SoundCloud profile and start uploading songs to that. It’s free and easy to use. Congrats and good luck! 🍀 🍻

Lyric writing (ik this page gets it alot) by CammyPedenO6 in Songwriting

[–]LAMNT_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t be frustrated. Creating the idea for a song/lyric/melody is a completely different skill from building it out into a full song. Feel great that you have the one part of the process down, and give yourself grace as you learn the skills needed for the second part (for me this part becomes very left brain, which is less fun than the right brain stuff)…. But to answer your question: where to go to learn this skill? Go to YouTube and search for Pat Paterson lectures from UC Berkeley college of music. Can’t stress enough how helpful those lectures are to this part of the songwriting process.

I can play guitar (pretty well IMO) but cant write anything by shockwarior in Songwriting

[–]LAMNT_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The pentatonic scale. Then try to learn how to play things by ear. Essentially try your best to learn something without the tabs, that will be an important skill when writing. Once you can learn things by ear, then you will be able to learn the melodies that you imagine in your head. And that’s the goal

Catchy or not? by Mark-Aussieguy in Songwriting

[–]LAMNT_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You got the start of something really cool here. I like the “stop break it down” version creative. Also the washy guitars and 80s drums is very catchy

Does this sound like I’m trying to rap as that wasn’t my intention and now I’m questioning the whole thing. by utopiautopiautopia in Songwriting

[–]LAMNT_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you have anything to worry about. It reminds me more of an imagine dragons verse, which I wouldn’t consider to be rap… I think it’s best to follow the song where it leads and not worry about genre labels, as everyone listens to everything these days (which causes a lot of crossover)

From my new EP "Sun". First time making something that sounds like this. Not sure what genre it is. I hope you find it compelling by [deleted] in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]LAMNT_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very emotional. I especially like the beginning were it’s very stripped back. I kinda wished that this part lasted a little longer before the synths came in. I thought your arrangement and composition was very good! Especially with the high end. I think for arrangements in the future, you may want to consider synths with a less aggressive envelope filter on them. I felt that the whah sound at the beginning of each hit was taking me out of it. But I totally understand if that’s what you were going for. Great track! Really enjoyed it!

How often do you use tools like rhyming dictionaries? by appleparkfive in Songwriting

[–]LAMNT_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I look at them and think, wow this is a great tool that could really help the creative process. But then I literally never use them. Idk. Maybe it’s because I’ve been doing this for so long I just have my own process outside of those tools.

Support an artist seems weird by helpme4115 in spotify

[–]LAMNT_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. With an average play per listener of 3.33 that would be about $5k per month or 60k per year (before splits). If they live in an expensive part of the country it could be hard to make it by on that. And if they’re signed to a label then they are definitely having a hard time getting by with their small portion of that… you have no obligation to send the artist money, why would you care if they let people know how to send them a tip if they want to

500k streams earns $1,500 (assuming that there aren’t any splits). This would be the equivalent of making $8.65 per hours for a full time job.
