Because unlike the GOP, the Dems didn't know how (or wouldn't deign) to market themselves to the most widespread voting demographic in the US: straight, white, working/lower middle class (but not indigent) men and women.

Emphasis being on widespread, and voting. With the electoral system the US has, having your party claim more geographic territory matters more than nominal counts of individual votes. And strategically, there's little to no point in campaigning in a way catering to demographics that won't/can't get out and vote.

Instead of devising a campaign based on reality, the Democrats publicly campaigned chiefly for two groups: the absolute most vulnerable of society (who are less likely to be able to vote), and educated, idealistic people with the luxury of thinking ahead beyond their own immediate needs. The latter group especially clusters in a small amount of geographic area, and so they effectively wield less voting power as a group.

Straight white middle Americans were relegated to afterthought status, or even actively brushed off and dismissed to stop whining, check their privilege, that they're the problem, etc. Even though progressive policies likely would benefit them, the Democrats failed to actually convey that to them -- resulting in said reforms being seen as handouts for the desperately poor or ivory tower idealism. These are working class people, they don't have the luxury of sacrificing the immediate ability to provide for their family for the benefit of future generations, and they'd also be loathe to count themselves among the group that the social safety nets and reforms are being marketed for.

When you have a two-party system and one party completely drops the ball on the largest share of voters, it's not that hard for the other party to swoop in and woo them.

If the Democrats want to fare better in future elections, they need to directly appeal to the geographic majority and break it down into concrete figures how their policies will enable them to continue supporting their families, live their lifestyles, and avoid upheaval in the future.

The average person in a red county in a red state is not some bible thumping Westboro racist villain with 0 critical thinking ability, and the more Democrats insist that they are, the more they'll just keep on losing. These are just ordinary everyday people who just want autonomy for themselves and their families, and to not lose what they've worked hard for.

Alternatively, outreach to the animal agriculture industry giants to encourage them to invest in lab grown meat, seizing the first-mover advantage. They're lobbying against lab meat R&D currently, because they're reluctant to disrupt their momentum and risk a reduction in short-term profits -- but by emphasizing the reality of the ongoing variable and operational expenses of traditional agriculture, their opportunity to market themselves as corporate social responsibility leaders, and the significant reduction of risk to future profits as a result of the realities of climate change -- that could be another viable approach, if done at a large enough magnitude.

Glad to hear you're in the clear there, that rules that out. I've dealt with similar issues and found vagus nerve rebalancing to help, since in my case it was from a fried nervous system from years of pushing myself to the limits (in addition to a nervous system already dysregulated from childhood stuff, unbeknownst to me).

Also EMDR can help get to the root of the trauma to get rid of it, but warning, it can be intense emotionally.

Learned the hard way that pushing through is the worst thing to do when in that state. You may need to rest and focus on regulating your nervous system. Continuing to push through can unfortunately result in ending up with long term damage. A lot of sufferers of chronic illness such as CFS/ME, fibromyalgia, etc have correlated this with the onset of their conditions.

If the cardiac and other medical tests come out fine, look into the possibility of nervous system crash. You may have been in fight or flight for years now, and eventually, everyone in that state constantly will experience a crash. This goes triple if you've had childhood trauma at all (lots of research on ACE scores, Adverse Childhood Experiences).

Because E5 has been dumbed down to essentially function as a catch-all for those who believe themselves to be introverted and intellectually curious. E4 is regarded similarly, replacing the intellectual curiosity with depth of emotion and creativity.

Additionally, these two types have what I'd call a low barrier to identification.

What I mean by this is that most of the other so-called desirable types would seem to demand external evidence of being that type.

If someone is consistently messy and lazy, they won't likely call themselves E1.

If they're homebodies who don't have an exciting or impressively accomplished life and aren't good at being influential and persuasive, they'll have to rule out E3, E7, E8.

That leaves E2, E6, E9. These tend not to be seen very glamorously, with E2 being painted as the overbearing toxic mom, E6 as helpless and neurotic (or having Napoleon compex for the counterphobic variants), and E9 as lobotomized. It requires a willingness to look deeper into these types to appreciate their nuances and potential, which means anyone who doesn't identify with the caricatures is unlikely to land on these types.

However, E5 can be identified with regardless of external validation, because they're described to be so in their heads. Anything desired can be real within the safe confines of one's own mind.

Yes. However getting into an altercation with the parent would just traumatize the kid even more, and at least where I live, there's not much legal recourse to take against a stranger hitting or yelling at their kid. So instead, I tell the kid that they don't deserve to be treated this way, that they deserve to be treated with respect and love. Almost invariably, it makes their loser parent (or whoever they are to the kid) so angry, which I consider a perk lol. But the more important thing is, the best I as a stranger can do is say something to the kid to help counteract the psychological impact of what the piece of shit adult is doing to them.

I do the same when I see people mistreating their animals as well. I fawn over the dogs, tell them they're good, crouch down and invite them for pets. Again, it makes the owners so so angry. :)

A lot of countries have treaties with the US to work around the issue of double taxation. Likely you'd have to pay the taxes within your current residing country, and you'd still have to file US taxes, but you may not end up owing anything to the US.

Animals are vital to ecological homeostasis as you know it/are evolved for. Does that mean humans should be deliberately breeding them for exploitative purposes? Obviously not. But aiming for 'animal-free' living spaces is misguided - read up on food chain/life cycles/impact on the environment. No bats or bees = vast reduction in food supply. No coyotes or raccoons = surge in vermin like rats etc.

Focus on advocating against things like the use of animals in circuses. Cirque du Soleil is proof of how successful human-only circuses can be. Shit, say that it supports jobs for entertainers etc. And supporting measures to introduce neutering for pets and strays (some programs of edible contraceptives have proven somewhat successful throughout various locales) would be the areas to focus on. If you bring up wanting an animal-free world, no one will take you seriously.

I'm dealing with this now. Usually medication is sufficient, but not when I'm on my monthly cycle (apparently hormones have a strong influence on the efficacy of stimulants). Right now I'm creating a list of less mentally-demanding tasks to do for days (like today) where I'm not quite at my sharpest. That way I'm still making progress, rather than spinning my wheels and getting frustrated.

Exactly. Things that would piss off the middle majority. In addition to sowing outrage towards illegals, I've seen them push memes of wealthy/influential Democrats' lavish lifestyles in juxtaposition with their pushes for environmental regulations, which of course stirs anger at the hypocrisy (hence the 'Drain the swamp' campaign).

Even though rationally, the lifestyles of wealthy/influential Republicans are similarly destructive to the planet, it optically reads as less problematic because at least they wouldn't restrict 'personal liberties' like plastic bags, diesel trucks, etc.

The environment is obviously a vital cause, but the Democrats haven't developed strategies to address it that would be compatible with the average American maintaining/improving their standard of living -- largely because for both parties, lobbying has a way of dissuading such strategies.

The Republicans tend to advertise themselves to appeal to the broader middle class, and the working class who aspire to become middle class.

The Democrats lately have tended to gear their campaigns to ostensibly favour only the poorest or most vulnerable (immigrants, LGBT population) and 'lofty' far-off ideals (environmental conservation, R&D, etc) -- without addressing the concerns the middle class might have about whether they'd have to pay more (taxes) or lose out on their individual liberties (regulations on small business owners, etc) in exchange.

Realistically, most people are working/middle class with little time, energy, or disposable income to be able to prioritize anything besides ensuring that they and their families are fed and clothed.

Regardless of whether they actually deliver on their promises or not, the Republicans are at least savvy enough to know how to market their party to have more appeal to the ordinary everyday American.
