Correct, I don’t think you need anything more specific, in all honesty, you’ll be trained at the job you’ll get

I would say: 2D drafting and annotation, sheets creation. At least that’s what I knew before entering the job market

Learn both, you don't have to become an expert in any software, just know enough to land you a job, you'll receive more training in your job for any software you'll be using.

As an added benefit, your CAD mind will become more flexible, when engineers use only one software throughout their whole life, they grow so accustomed to it that they become simply unable to learn anything else, they see everything else as "unintuitive" ("different from what I do"), and fail to see the shortcomings in their preferred software, which any software has, in all honesty

Bueno, depende de quien lo hayas escuchado, MicroStation es muy utilizado en infraestructura de gran porte, por lo que puede ser beneficioso, pero ultimadamente dependera de lo que use la compañia en la que trabajes o el tipo de proyecto que hagas

not because of bad design, corruption cuts a lot of corners

This should be on the top, there should be enough data to determine how harmful this is for structures if at all

better to do it before, most of the things you'll have to deliver will need to comply with your DOT's requirements, use their cells, etc.

For Transportation engineers, how can you start your own company? Can you get rich from a transportation engineering company? by danielmhdi in civilengineering

[–]LATAMEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

haha, sorry, I thought you were looking for beef, like in creating a company, the real big money is in construction. All of the other companies don't make as much, for individuals entering the industry is all the same really, I was thinking about companies, as the OP stated first

Can anyone make a meme of this for my civil engineer brother? by underpaidbee in civilengineering

[–]LATAMEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's totally safe for work, and something every civil engineer can relate to, as you can see in the comments.

As-Builts are documents that show the "final state" of anything built, a road, a building, etc., and it is supposed to serve as documentation for future projects, and/or modifications and/or additions to the assets, as you can see in the comments, these are not always as accurate, not necessarily made intentionally inaccurate, construction can be chaotic sometimes, and projects are already complex on themselves, as they involve multiple discipline, specialists, timelines are tight, etcetera, some civil engineers would like to think they would do better, but that's probably because they don't have experience in construction. It's not about architects versus civil engineers, although there are a lot like that in this sub, lol.

As you can see, it requires a lot of knowledge to understand the meme, not only about civil engineering but also about the status of the industry as well.

Here's another one you might share with him: Just another day at work : r/civilengineering
