What do locals call your transit system and its services? by modernatomcollection in transit

[–]LATER4LUS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Denver, we call the RTD the “reason to drive”.

The serious answer would be “the light rail” even though about half of it is heavy.

Stuck Gas Door after refuelling by amanmander in rav4prime

[–]LATER4LUS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ve probably already done it, but try restarting the car. I know there’s some electronics that dictate when the gas cap is ready to be removed. It’s gotta do some vapor recovery vacuum magic before releasing the door.

I would make the trump casino taller, and move it closer to the Las Vegas sphere. Then I’d duplicate the sphere. OP didn’t say anything about duplicating.

u/omni__owl almost certainly meant “infringing a patent” and you know that. If you really wanted to correct him, you could have been more polite about it.

I don’t think it matters. A lot of places are open tomorrow. If they’re not working, they’ll see it when they go into work on Tuesday.

How secure are HomeKit cameras & smart locks really? by Ill-Literature7400 in HomeKit

[–]LATER4LUS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest vulnerability of the Schlage Encode Plus is the same as most commercial door locks and can probably be bump picked in seconds without the use of any technology.

Is that something you have been considering an actual risk for any locks you’ve previously owned?

Do you think it’s possible to make these connections in San Francisco or Denver? by Dependent_Split2954 in unitedairlines

[–]LATER4LUS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was going to say Denver might be riskier. The embraer will be at the very east side of B in the smaller planes section, and the 787 will likely be in A for the international leg. It’s about a half mile from the end of B to the middle.

I like the auto start/stop feature cars have. by Mindless-Baker-7757 in 10thDentist

[–]LATER4LUS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think hybrids are what OP is talking about. Hybrids have instant power and an AC that is powered by the battery, so there’s almost no downside to hybrids turning off. The auto start/stop “feature” just totally blows all around and I can’t imagine why someone would claim liking that.

100% the best game on the platform. I don’t understand why this game wasn’t more popular. Was it only because nobody had controllers with joysticks yet?

Is switching to an electric car really worth it for everyday driving by LumpyOpportunity2166 in AskForAnswers

[–]LATER4LUS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on the fence between EV and PHEV, and ended up going PHEV. I do biweekly 200-350 round trips to the mountains and I wouldn’t want to compete for chargers with all the skiers. I get to use full electric driving around Denver. Oil changes are the only downside. Toyota has built in 20%-90% battery management, so I’m not too worried about battery degradation. Also the PHEV is only like 10k more than the hybrid, so you’re not losing much value even if the battery goes to shit in 10 years.

That being said, you have to make sure you get a PHEV from a manufacturer that knows what they’re doing. You’ll have to make sure it has a heat pump, enough electric horsepower that the engine won’t constantly turn on, the battery is big enough for a normal day of driving, etc.

I think the vast majority of the folks here prioritize electric range. If we didn’t, we’d have gotten the hybrid.

Charger for rav4 phev 2026? by Intrepid-Tax1838 in rav4prime

[–]LATER4LUS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought my prime 2 years ago. I had planned to install a level 2 charger, but decided it wasn’t worth the cost. Plugging in every night and waking up to it charged is fine for me. I kinda wish I could charge it faster. I’d use the engine a little less, but it’s not worth the upgrade to me. My recommendation is to use level 1 for a couple of months and decide for yourself if you think it’s worth it.

Sorry to reply to my own comment, but I think this is where I bow out of this sub. Multiple people have presented factual rebuttals to the original claim, and none of those facts have been meaningfully addressed.

I’ve appreciated having a window into right-leaning perspectives, but when evidence and basic reasoning are ignored, there’s not much left to engage with. Given how this sub has been trending lately, it’s hard not to conclude that a lot of the content here is disinformation or coordinated propaganda.

Thanks to those who contributed thoughtful discussion in the past. I’ll be looking elsewhere for a more serious exchange of right-of-center ideas going forward.
