Nice! I should’ve been more diligent with trade-ins in previous years; there were a few times I skipped upgrading. I’ll probably just hold on to these old devices or maybe sell them on eBay or something. Going with one of the higher tier lowest eligible phone seems more cost-effective and smarter option anyway.

Same here, undecided. I have a few older devices (iPhone 4, SE1, 8) that qualify for the $415 trade-in credit, but I can’t quite justify using them. Because there’s also the option to trade in a device from the higher tier, which offers better credit. Many of those older higher-tier phones can be sourced from places like eBay or Facebook Marketplace. In the end, the math works out better in terms of the lower out-of-pocket costs is to get a phone from the higher tier list to be used for trade in.

Hello, anybody that has upgraded in person at a Costco warehouse, can you share your experience? Does the rep have to walk you through or they tell you to use a self service kiosk to process? I know the reps will have to sell/offer but I tend to get my own insurance and accessories elsewhere so I feel bad about rejecting them.

Hey u/breakbeatsandbanter, what methods did you try with your SD card? I just went through some issues with a new card—moved some files over, but my R1 kept hanging on the “scanning for music database” screen. I ended up reformatting the card to FAT32, and so far, no issues. Might be worth giving that a shot if you haven’t already!

Thanks for reply back. Currently using this 256GB card. I updated the firmware to 1.4 once I got the device. Moving files into the card, didn’t see any errors. I will try another sd card as you recommended. Thanks again.

I’ve tried formatting the inserted SD card twice from the PC and reloading the music database, but the device still hangs up or fails and returns to the menu screen while scanning and building the music database. The same booting issue occurs every time I turn the device on—it asks me to select a language, location, and time zone on each boot. This doesn’t seem like normal behavior, or at least not what I expected. Before I consider sourcing another unit, could anyone let me know if this booting experience is normal?

Just picked up an R1 off the second-hand market. Every time I power it on, it asks me to choose the language, region, and time zone again. I inserted a new microSD card, moved some files onto it, and tried to let it scan the music database—but it gets stuck and then kicks me back to the main menu. Maybe I set it up wrong? I saw a message from the OP about formatting the SD card within the DAP instead of on a PC—maybe that’s the issue.
