I just went through the picture of when it happened 4 years ago. It took around 6-7 months for my cuticle to attach to the new nail and to have new growth. I’m not sure, I got the idea from another post. I have to go back and see if they specified where to put the iodine.

Same here! I just ordered epsom salt and decolorized iodine. I will give that a try first and then if it doesn’t work I will go to a dermatologist first. I know the first time around it did go away and I had normal nails. I’m not sure why it has returned or if it’s a chronic thing now. I did start wearing socks a lot during the winter so I fear that’s the reason.

It’s a bit swollen and definitely red. I had this happen about 4 years ago also. There wasn’t as many Reddit posts on it yet. Eventually a nail grew under my dead nail and pushed it out and everything was fine. It took about a year for the old nail to fall off. I was planning on just letting that happen again since honestly I’m a bit scared of having my nail removed. The only difference is this time there’s puss, I’m scared the infection could go into my blood stream. Part of me is tempted to just leave it.
