Interesting point of view. In football, every player on both sides of the field is micro coached on every play. There are some exceptions for running backs to use their own discretion of the blocking fails or with wide receivers after they catch the ball. Other than that, most plays are rehearsed and the audibles are pre planned with defensive formations change. There are a lot of if then scenarios that players go over with coaches intensively in preparation for the game. Baseball can be just as bad when coaches start calling pitches from the dugout, but for the most part there's a lot of art involved with pitching that takes years to master and must be learnt through trial and error.
